DH moved here to PA last Oct from Alaska, we havent done any real fun trips in NYC, just driving through, visiting fam, etc. But DH has mentioned a few times that he'd really like to do a fun day trip and see a broadway show...I have NO clue what kind of show he would like. Looking for recommendations of good shows. I think I might try to buy him tickets for us for an Xmas gift!
Suggestions pls, ladies! TIA

Re: Pls suggest a broadway show...
I think two shows that guys typically love are Jersey Boys and Avenue Q. Avenue Q is raunchy and fun, Jersey Boys has all the familiar Frankie Valli songs and a great story (I haven't seen it yet but I hear raves). I personally love Hairspray...but they finally made it a movie and its on DVD (I still prefer the show though).
def mamma mia!!!! dh loved it and is sort of antisocial and stiff sometimes. haha. but he was up singing and dancing and wants to go again!!!!

DH never in his wildest dreams would see himself at a show. But after a few hints I got him to see Avenue Q.. He loved it (rated R Sesame Street) so I told him all shows were like that. . He caught on. So for Valentine's Day he got us tix to I Love U You're Perfect Now Change. He thought it would be appropriate before we got hitched. I've seen Mama Mia just because I loove ABBA. It just depends on what you guys are into. Slava's Snow Show is supposed to be cool too.

WAIIIIT!!!! Are the stage hands off strike?? They were on strike so a lot of shows were temporarily cancelled. MAke sure whichever one you choose you call ahead and make sure its on.
My favorites are WICKED because the music is fabulous and even DH stayed awake and enjoyed it and he HATES broadway lol. My other favorite is Phantom of the Opera. That is THE play as far as Im concerned. I saw it 3 times; twice with Hugh Panaro who in my opinion IS the Phantom-forget mICHAEL cRAWORD LOL. Ack caps!
Its a very romantic beautiful show but most men are eh about it. Your DH would probably prefer Wicked or Avenue Q which I havent seen but heard is a riot.

The only show I've seen in the past 6 years was Wicked - it was unbelievable!! I was truly amazed!!! I highly recommend it!!
I've seen Phantom, Sunset Blvd (closed a long time ago), and The King and I (also closed a long time ago).

Spamalot was HILARIOUS and lots of fun. I highly recommend it.
We saw Avenue Q together in Las Vegas and it was lots of fun. We thought the concept was kinda weird but we heard such good things that we went for it - so glad we did.
Good luck! I'm sure he'll love whatever you go with!

My DH isn't a fan of musicals, but he enjoyed Ave Q and Spamalot. The Blue Man Group is awesome too, but not a musical or play really.
I haven't seen wicked yet but I hear it's awesome. I'm buying tickets to see Young Frankenstein soon. We're going to see Cirque Du Soleil next weekend at MSG and I can't wait.

Slava's was awesome, but it's no longer running in NY. I do agree with this poster since it is up to what you are into. I've seen so many shows and liked them all but Beauty and the Beast. Mainly because Lion King was just more appealing to the eye. I haven't seen a show in a while but my DH and I are planning our annual Valentines in the city this year. Usually consists of staying in the city too. Will you be staying over night?
