POLL regarding 'i love you'

So do you say 'i love you' to your in-laws?

i don't love my in-laws so i won't even say it (which makes it awkward when they say it and i don't reciprocate).

They don't say it and neither do I. Then again, I don't generally tell my parents I love them.
But I do love my parents and in laws. We just don't say it.

MIL has said it in the past, but it wasn't like a heartfelt moment or anything, but it wasn't a funny moment either. Maybe to her it was heartfelt. whatever.

I've never said it to them, too weird. They're nice people and I'd like them a lot more if I didn't work with them, but I'm not on the love level. Ew.

DH and I started dating about 3 years ago .... but we really only see his family once every month or two.

I always say that DH's mom only wanted to have daughters (she had 3 sons) and so when her sons got married, she stopped caring about her boys and started caring about 'her girls' / 'her daughters' (yes, she's called me that to my face and i almost slapped her lol)

I used to tell my MIL I love you all the time. Everynight after I helped put her to bed I always kissed her on the forehead and say I love you. (ok now I am sitting here tearing up thinking of it)

MIL says 'I Love you' when she hangs up the phone. I ignored her for a while, but then one day I just said 'I love you' back by accident. I totally didn't mean it. Now...I feel like I have to say it each time she calls. Blah!

I think we have said it a couple of times. She says 'love yas' when shes getting off the phone so I say it back

MIL says it at the end of every phone call, so I say it back. I actually don't mind it because it keeps me from thinking about how much of a PITA she is.

I ADORE my FIL, but I haven't said 'love you' to him yet (but I do love him!). I've now gotten to the step of calling him 'Dad' via e-mails and cards, but I can't say that out loud yet...it's a process for me for some reason . DH is the same way with my mom though...loves her, but hasn't called her 'Mom' out loud yet or said 'love you' out loud.

every once in a while my MIL will say it to me and I will say it back - I have to say that I am very lucky, I have a great relationship with my in-laws

I have said it to MIL only because she said it... i dont mean it...

ive never said it to FIL...

Ive said it to BIL and meant it... and ive said to a few of his aunts/uncles/cousins/and meant it!!

DH and his parents say 'i love you' all the time, getting off the phone, whenever we leave their house.... So when they say it to me also, I always say it back. Sometime's it's tough with MIL because she can be a challenge of an individual, but i adore FIL and StepMIL, so it's cool.

Still on a first name basis though - can't get into the 'mom' and 'dad' groove, too weird.
