Ok in your opinion do you feel its better to be overdressed or underdressed? I ask this because a few weeks ago I posted about evening wear, my DH has a surprise for me on Valentines day and told me to wear evening wear. This surprise also involves two other couples. I bought this dress but it doesnt look dressy enough, looks like a dress I would wear to a sweet 16
Then I decided maybe I'll just wear the dress I wore for my E-party. Its pretty simple, a long black matte jersey halter dress, but its def. dressier (this pic shows the only detail on the dress)
Now I get a call from one of the other girls going and she is wearing a skirt and blouse as is the other girl....but DH is telling me evening wear and the 3 guys are all wearing suits. So do I go in my eparty dress and maybe be overdressed or go in the other dress and maybe be underdressed?

First off Stay, I have to say you are a knockout, totally gorgeous!!!!!
To answer your question I would much rather be overdressed. I remember going to a GTG at a friend'shouse once and I assumed it was casual so I wore jeans, well everyone esle had on nice slacks and such, and I felt so out of place. It is better to be decked out.

both dresses are gorgeous!!! i would rather be overdressed, but that's just me!! as long as you'll be comfortable - enjoy being all dressed up!!!

I really like dress #1. The flower make its a bit more casual and versatile so I think its perfect.
Generally, a little overdressed is better but I wouldnt wear anything with rhinestones or super glam unless I was sure it would blend if you know what i mean. Particularily if you wore it at your eparty...everyone already saw you in it

Why dont you ask hubby for his advice since he knows where it will be? and I really like #1, it will be something new and different. Im sure it will look elegant enough!

OVERDRESSED At least that is my opinion. I never dress to what others are wearing, I dress to how I feel. You feel like being dressy go ahead sweetie. You look rather lovely in the e-pix dress. i think the one above would be great as well.

I would go with the first dress also. I think it's a beautiful dress.
I wouldn't care about being overdressed if it were DH & I, but the other women in the group are leaning towards not as dressy. I wouldn't want them to feel bad for not being as dressy as you. Does that make sense?

I really like the first dress too! I think either dress you choose to wear is a lot nicer than wearing a skirt and blouse.
PS - to answer your question, I'd rather be overdressed then underdressed.

Christine, I am not rejecting your opinion. I want her to be overdressed, I think that is right.
I was just quoting your post to make my point that I totally would not take into consideration what the other girls are wearing, her hubby told her evening wear and that is what she should adhere to.

Thanks Ladies for all your comments and suggestions. DH is no help whatsoever, he likes both dresses (M.O.F he picked out my e-dress) he just says that he doesnt want me to feel out of place although he would loved if I wore that dress or something along the lines of that. I guess Saturday I'm gonna have my Mom and Aunt come over after I get my make-up done and play fashion show

I'd vote for #1. I agree with being overdressed, but compared to what the other girls are wearing you WILL be more dressed up than them. I think #2 might be TOO dressy.
