i get both and i don't mind the how's married life question.. its customary and what the heck.. but the baby question drives up the wall!!! one lady came up to me on christmas and rubbed my belly and said, maybe next christmas W T FFFFFFFFFF i was fuming!

The same here except for the rubbing of the belly My DH is in his early 40's and I am in my late 30's and already have an 11 year old. We have been together for 5 years and got married in August. Many people bypassed the first quetion and headed straight to the second question. I guess they figure since we are a 'little' older we might want to get a 'head start' If we are blessed with a child we will do it at our own time ...do I need to provide people a schedule???? and what after you have the first one.......when is the second one coming? will be the next question!!! They never stop

FMIL keeps throwing in the whole 'you wont have the patience for a child when you get older'. And I feel like telling her 'so I should have a kid now, when I am not ready, just so that I could bypass having less patience with them?'.

It's the most rediculous thing I ever heard, and I want to slap her in the face when she says that to me.

I will never understand why people dont like the how is married life question. if they saw you and didnt say anything would there be posts about that? just a pet peeve of mine, sorry

the only reason i dont like it is b/c i feel like its some forced 'have to ask' question.... i would be FINE with people saying 'oh how was aruba, how are you settling into your new house etc etc' i just feel like the 'SOOOO hows married life' is something ppl say to just make conversation when they see youfor the first time

i would even rather hear 'so, how have things been since the wedding?'

believe me, i would not be complaining if i never heard that question asked to me... just ask how WE ARE - thats all you have to do

I thinks its equal people believe once you get married you automatically should have a baby I tell people to hold their breathe and keep waiting

Because it's only been a little under two weeks they ask 'How's married life been treating you?'

When they find out I'm unemployed they're like 'Maybe it's a good time to have a baby' TO which my response is 'We need to recuperate financially from the wedding a little before we start having babies...so job first then babies'

Everyone knows our plan is to buy a house this year. They have probably also heard 9000 times that I want to wait a few years-get settled in my job. I'm sure it won't stop them from asking though.

on Christmas my Uncle asked DH if he knocked me up on the HM how nicely to put it right?

a lot of people ask about the baby stuff - strange!

and at work there is a joking bet between the guys - how long its going to take before it happens - i hope they are wrong!

I hear 'Don't have kids yet' At first I was offended...like don't tell me when I should have kids..or not have kids...lol. But I am the one who says...NO WAY no kids for me for another 3-4 yrs...so it doesn't bother me anymore.

I don't mind the married life q's but the baby q's bother me. My children are furry and their names are Whiskers, Scribbles and Pesty....how come you never ask about them

omg yeah this happened to me once... we are @ BIL's house a couple months after the wedding and DH asked me if i wanted a glass of wine & i said no & BIL was like OMG MICHELLE'S PREGNANT!!!! i was like ummm def not now please give me a few shots to prove you wrong lol

my response - I haven't killed him yet so it's fine.

2) when are you having a baby ?
my response - a cold icy stare and I walk away, or I tell them I already have 3 boys (my dad, FIL and DH)

This question really gets under my skin. It's very personal and also I'm 42 and my husband is 46. We're like a bit old to become first time parents.
I'll just be starting retirement when the child graduates from college. I've always wanted children so this question hurts. Life timing just su cks.

I'm sorry people can be hurtful. I don't mean to be out of line, but if its something you really want, it is still possible.

I'm 35 and feel pressure to get a move on, and people constantly ask.
My mom got on me a few months BEFORE the wedding - 'If you got pregnant now, you wouldn't be showing for the wedding'

I'm pretty sure every family member I saw since my HM had asked me when is the baby comming or if we are trying. Obviously we do it alot but we aren't trying SO STOP ASKING!! OMG it's annoying!

I don't get too many baby comments actually. I get SOME, but not as much as I had expected (Thank God!). It's probably because i'm still pretty young and both me & DH have made it perfectly clear that we do not plan on having children for a while.

I DO, however, get that question of 'How's Married Life?' pretty much every day. Such a strange question to answer. 'umm... good?' lol. I always try to think of some fun anecdote to tell, but i'm running out!!!!! haha.
