possible cyst? anyone ever have?

I was just wondering if anyone has dealt w/ ovarian cysts, or any type of cyst on the fallopian tube, or uterus? I am going to the doctor tomorrow morning, but kinda freaking out. The back story is Friday night I noticed a lump on the left side of my pelvis over my uterus. In the same line as my hip bone. Prob four inches in from my hip bone. It is hard, and about the size of a golf ball? It is irregular in shape not perfectly round. I was thinking it might be a hernia, or a cyst? My cycles have been ok not really irregular. I am freaking thinking the worst. I have no history of any type of ovarian cyst or cancer in my family. I have no children, and have never been pregnant. Not on bc either. Any idea?

its very common actually and there are some women who get those type of cysts alot. My friend gets them alot, and alot of other women i know have had it in the past. Be glad you know about it now, the problem is when it goes unnoticed and it bursts. I am sure you'll be fine, i know it's scary not knowing but once you see your doctor they will reassure you of this.

Good luck

I had a cyst that burst once, a long time ago. I wasn't on bc either...don't worry though, cysts are very common, most are harmless, they are more of a nuisance than anything else.

Not to scare you or upset you but...if a dr recommends surgery, please get a second opinion first, as most do not have to be removed and are not harmful. My SIL is having one removed in about a week and (never got a second opinion) we aren't sure whether it is necessary. I spoke to a couple of gyns and this is what they told me. FM me if you want any more info!!! And GL at the dr's

I also had cyst burst back in November. It was painful, stayed in the hospital for a day. I have polyocystic syndrome, which generally means that one has multiple cysts, they can sometime make you feel uncomfortable, especially as your hormones fluctuate through the month. Most cysts are nothing though, they don't harm you at all.

I agree do not let them do surgery to remove cysts without a second opinion so drs are quick to get the surgical knife, and a lot of times it isn't necessary.

My sister had an ovarian cyst. They thought her one ovary had died, but when they removed the cyst, it was just twisted and they saved it....

Wow - I am surprised you can feeling it with your hand. I have had them before too but could never feel the actually cyst. I could feel something uncomfortable in that area, espc during eh-hem....s-e-x. But anyway - they all went away on their own and I did have two rupture and yes it is very painful when that happens.

I agree with another poster that said get a 2nd opinion if the dr. wants to remove it. Unless it is over a certain size (which yours sounds pretty big)...I think mine was smaller than a dime. Sometimes they are filled with calcium deposits, etc and that is why dr wants to remove. Anyway good luck and hope you feel ok
