So I am visiting a good friend of DHs on Friday to see their new baby. DH was like best friends with this guy in their 20s (he was a GM in this couples wedding) but they drifted apart for several years. They ran into each other one day and got reconnected but we don't all hang out as a group a lot. Because of this, I never met their two young boys before. I think one will be 4 soon and the other will be 3. Being that I have never met them or seen their rooms, I have NO idea what they are into. I bought a present for their new daughter because they did not have a shower for her and I figured I would get some cute pink clothes but I don't know what to get the boys. If I get them gift cards to toys r us do you think that is okay? I know my brothers love gift cards to Game stop but they are older than these boys and I think the boys are too young for that. I feel bad because it is not a 'personal gift' but I don't know them and DH is the most oblivious person when it comes to things like that!

Re: present for kiddies question
Gift cards are always awesome, but you may want to get something they can play with that day (Kids that young don't really get the concept of gc's KWIM?). I know my nephew loves any kind of truck or car, and dinosaurs.

Re: present for kiddies question
I think they are a little young for gc's they wont know what to do with them! I think you could get away with buying them like matchbox cars or maybe remote control cars. We got that for DH's cousins little boy and he loved it!
hold on I'm looking on the toys r us site now, let me see what comes up....
Eta: ok they have a ton of stuff and you can search by age, not sure what you want to spend, but I came across this:
