PSA: Get your annual PAP SMEAR!!

Girls, if you haven't already- go out and schedule your annual exam at your OB/GYN... Within the last 2 weeks I have had 2 people very close to me diagnosed with cervical cancer...

please please PLEASE go out and have your exam... in 1 case, the girl went every 6 mos for paps and whatnot because she was on the pill & she was still diagnosed with cancer...

I have my appt today.. when's yours?!?!?

ETA: neither woman has ever been diagnosed with, or tested postive for HPV

had one 2 months ago! But they did tell me that now if you're under a certain age (30 maybe?) and have had 3 normal paps in a row, you can go every other year....

This is SOOOOOO important!!!! My MIL is a cervical cancer survivor.

I go every year no matter what - I just went on Monday for this year's annual!

it can hit anyone.. 1 person is one of my bridesmaids (25 y.o,) and a best friend since 4th gr.. the other is DHs aunt.. 37 y.o.

They told my BM the same thing about regular paps.. She always went, even before the pill... Do not risk it!! Go every year- no matter how uncomfortable they are.. I will NEVER skip one or go late again

THANK YOU! I am supposed to go every six months since I had a few abnormal results HOWEVER my pharmacist keeps refilling my BC so I have no motivation to go. . .ugh!

I have my appt Friday...i've been thru biopsies & laser surgery to remove abnormal cell areas so I am all about the pap every 6 months!

that's more common now... because they are able to test more spcifically than years ago...

most of the time, it's nothing...

I have my annual appointment TONIGHT! I'm actually going to a new doctor, since my original doctor no longer delivers babies and I would like to have a baby someday.

i have so many who-ha issues with cysts and such---my gyno sees my junk probably more than DH.

i agree----NEVER put off your gyno visits and paps ladies!!!

I get so sad when I read or hear people who don't go and then they develop cancer. My friend/ex coworker who didn't have health insurance just like me didn't go for five years. She had two kids but didn't take the time after the last kid to go annually. She developed cancer and sadly passed away at 34.

Even without health insurance for so long I had paid $400-$500 to get my exam done. It is so important and I get so angry at people who have insurance but decline to go.

I go every 6 months since ovarian and cervical cancer have runsin my fam and the doc would preffer to safe than sorry. i got mine done in March and doing anohter one in Sept.

it is a very important thing to keep on top of!!

Ughh I am in the same boat as you. Last time they had to do a biopsy and I almost fainted and am dreading going again. I am going to make an appt asap though bc I keep getting letters that I am 'past due' for a check up!
