PSA: OMG girls, don't ignore a SPLINTER, trust me

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!! How is everyone???? I'm finally back and able to type after a nasty little event on Friday -- All the renovations we did in our place for finally ended last weekend, and as I ran around trying to restore order, I got a little teeny splinter in my finger. Big whoop, right?
I pushed the sucker out and went on with my life. WELLLLLLL apparently I'm not such a good nurse, cause 2/3 of the thing was still in my finger, I noticed it was tender all week but figured it'd go away.

So Friday at work my finger is literally swelling up before my eyes and it hurt like a SUMBITCH, let me tell you!!!! Off to the ER I went, and since this fell in to the 'minor' category, I was there for 8.5 hours. They drained it, got the piece of wood out and put me on some KICKIN antiobiotics, but the worst part was the lecture about ignoring infections.

And THIS IS WHY I WAS A NO SHOW ON FRIDAY NIGHT which is the part that makes me the maddest about the whole damn thing. Im SO SAD I missed it, especially YOUUUUUU HAYLEY I was like a raving lunatic by 7pm at the ER, trying to get OUT of there and hop in a cab over to the bar!!! I didn't get out until almost 10pm so that was a lost cause...

And now I'm going to go look at all your GTG pix and

Pfffft.

Aww I am so sorry. My little flower girl has one. Her mother tried to take it out and couldn't so she has to take her to the doctor. She gets them alot.

Ooooh nice new avatar, Peg!!!
Thanks, they said this can be REALLY serious, you can get a 'blood infection' if its untreated.. So mine's just 'ugly' right now but it could've been worse!!!!

I always knew he was a bastid....

Sorry that happened Colette. Your stories to avoid GTG seem so extreme they must be true .

I hope you and finger are feeling 100% and can we please see some pics of the nursery????? Your blood sweat and tears went into it now show it off.

OMG i know, but remember I DID make the spring GTG that Jenn organized, thank goodness!!!!

oOO GOOD IDEA CAT, I'll take pix of the little guy's set up, he has his own room but he won't be using that for a few months, for now we'll just be tucking him into the dresser drawer in my room. OK just seeing if you're paying attention.
I'll shoot a few pix and post 'em, We PGs are slowly turning this NW board into the Maternity Ward Board

sorry about your finger and that you didn't make it to the GTG!!!! we missed you!!!!! everytime someone new walked into the bar, I was like 'she's not pregnant........must not be Colette'

seriously though, take care of your finger!! when I was like 11 or 12 I had a nasty infection in my foot, it was sensitive to the touch like your finger.....I went to the podiatrist and I had a tiny slither of metal in my foot!!!! I have no clue what I stepped on, but they had to shave off some skin to get to it (sorry for TMI!!).

Oh Colette!!! You poor thing! I knew someone who stepped on one & got a staph infection once! Splinters are NO joke

Post pictures & we can compare ugly hands (my leprosy vs. your splinter nastiness)

OK I'm game!!!
Here's my nastiness, now keep in mind this is after 3 days of antibiotics, the white stuff is a topical paste I'm putting on it, so it still looks pretty
On a side note, you can see my new yellow kitchen wall in the background, which I really
