Any month better than the other? Or resort?

i went last october from the 22nd til the 31st. it was faaaaaaaaaaabulous! we stayed at the excellence resort in punta cana. we *narrowly* escaped a tropical storm though, it was really scary! the weather on the 30th started to get cloudy and breezy and the 31st was just a sad gloomy day. we left in the early afternoon and by evening a tropical storm had hit the island. it could've been worse though! all in all we had an amazing time, pics in my album if you wanna see how gorgeous is was pre-tropical storm!

Looks great. I need a cheap getaway and it seems like Aug or Sept would be it. I just don't know where to go... and at that point I wonder if I should just wait till our year.

It's hot in July and August, plus it is the middle of hurricane season so you are taking a risk.
Hot is ok, you spend most of your time in a bathing suit anyway.
Sept - Nov is fine, hurricanes tend to hit further north so that should not be a worry.

Paradisus is a great family resort, one of the better ones in Punta Cana. Just a favorite of the group I travelled with.
Secrets was really nice. I had gone there with DH before we got married. Only downside is that this resort is on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island and the beach is rough. Could not go in the water at all.

if you have the time, do it! any time is beautiful down there, it's gorgeous year round! have an early anniversary trip!

We went to the same place in August. FABULOUS. I think I have pics in my reviiew-I did a full rbeak down.

I've gone to DR many times but never been to Punta Cana. I'm going in early November this year for my friend's destination wedding.

Going during hurricane season you take a risk, but if you buy 'cancel for any reason' insurance, that should give you peace of mind for a couple hundred dollars.

DR is beautiful and I hear Punta Cana is really nice.

When we went we missed the next big storm-hit the day after we left so you ARE taking a risk but get the insurance as yesi said.

We literally went 2 people for the price of one because it was hurricaine season-so it was a little iffy but with savings like that and insurance we risked it and lucked out.

The caribbean is always iffy. We have gone to PR in non rainsy season (family there) and it poured the entire time.

We went for our honeymoon in the beginning of October. The weather was great, just a little bit of rain at night and one storm during the day that passed very quickly. Stayed at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. Loved it!!!!

I would definitely suggest taking a trip there.
