Q of the D II

Original post by Toucan311

So, 2009 you, a newly married lady, gets to go in a time machine and go back 2 (or 3, or whatever) years and give newly engaged you ONE piece of wedding-related advice. What is it?

Don't get married!

Don't me!!!!

1) It's one stupid night and it's way too damn expensive.

2) It causes hell in terms of taxes.

3) I hated everything about my wedding/wedding day.

So, young, naive one....DON'T GET MARRIED!

well maybe you could re-phrase this to say ELOPE, plus once you have a house and kids the tax situation will be much better, i promise. it's all about the deductions.

Nope. Not elope. Plain old do not get married!

But then we'd all point at you and taunt you about living in sin.

I'm a sinner anyway. Might as well live it!

How does Chris feel about this??

He knows I feel this way. I think he agrees in terms of the cost of the stupid wedding and the taxes. I don't dislike the idea of being married....I just hate how we went about it (the wedding) and the ill effects of it financially.

Add something to the invite that said,

'If you don't RSVP by the deadline, u r not coming and it's final. If you RSVP yes and don't show up, you will be obligated to pay for your plates.'

I like this one!!!!

I like a lot of my pics, but i wished there were more artistic ones.

Oh, and dont be a fatty fat!! I lost 65 lbs since my wedding and I cant stand looking at my pics. I wish I had dont it sooner. But oh well. I can always get a $99 dress at davids and do a day after shoot.

Pull my hair off my face....I had this obsession with having a few pieces down and in some pics it looks stringy thats all I can think of

I agree, I would not wear my hair down.

My other advise.

Get a sample centerpiece.

Get a comfortable dress.
(my dress was so uncomfortable, for about a week after I had a huge line etched into my back).

If you are a procrastinator (like myself) get a wedding planner or close friend to help.
(I did everything last minute, and it was so stressful).

I think the one about holding off on the BP is very very true also.

I would tell myself to go to many stores and try on many dresses in different styles. In the end, I really was never in LOVE with my dress.

Me either. I actually hated my dress. Than I felt so guilty because it was so expensive. I really should have gotten a different one. I hate my pictures because I hate my dress. So I think if an engaged bride to be feels like she doesn't like her dress she should definitely look at a new one.

I liked the way my dress LOOKED but it was SOOOO uncomfortable that I had to lay down in the limo to breathe, and I didn't eat anything at the reception.

Dont worry about what others will do and shop around for more dresses.

Choose your vendors carefully...go to as many hait trials as you need to to find the right hairstylist...and double check EVERYTHING you want, down to what type of napkin fold, with your BM.
Bargain your RH down....
