For me it didn't. We all got married around the same time, so we went through everything together. We don't see each other as much as we used to, but that's because of life things and children coming along.
I'd say it really depends on whether or not you are the first in the group to get married. Some of your sigle friends might feel like they are 'intruding' on your newly married life by calling you to go out. You just have to make the effort to still hang out alone as well as a group.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
yes...I barely see them anymore. It seems like they asked me once or twice to do something, but the timing wasn't good, so I couldn't. Now, even though I've tried to get together with them, it's like I'm out of the picture...

Re: Q only a wife could answer
my 2 best friends live out of state, so we e-mail and talk on the phone. They both have kids, so we don't talk that often.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
Mine is better I think. I was the last of my closest friends to get married. They have been married between 4-10 years now. Now we are on the same page again.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
Yes... but I don't think it is because we got married, I think it is because we moved and bought a house. Seriously, 90% of our friends live in Kings Park, which is where we used to live. Now that we moved , even though we are only 15 minutes away, we don't go to that townie bar as much as we used to. And since we are always so busy working on our house we miss out on a lot of things. Only ONE other couple we are friend with own a house, so nobody else understands the amount of work it takes. Now our priorities have changed. I would rather go shopping for furniture or paint the house on a Friday night then go sit in a gross bar. Another thing is my DH and I both work full-time... you all would be SHOCKED when I tell you very few of our friend have full-time jobs. Some have yet to find a job after graduating from college 2 years ago. Most of my girlfriends have a p/t job or waitress. Last year I was having this problem where a few of my friends would call me at MIDNIGHT on a weeknight asking me to go out. I have to wake up at 6:30!!! They don't go in to work until 5 pm. It cause all sorts of drama because they thought I didn't want to hang out with them anymore... sometimes I feel so much older than my friends... Oh well! I am hoping that once our house is finished and we can start having people over things will get better. In fact, I am SURE of it. Sorry so long, you started me on a vent!!

Yes but its ok....they think you're marrried and unavail to hang out etc....and as for everyone else they leave you alone because you're a 'Newlywed'....we laugh like where did all the guests go! Its cool though.

No my girls and i still go out a lot and now that the i am having a baby they seem to be around a lot more. I think they are more excited then i am. I am the first one of my group to get married and the second to have a child so it is really neat for them. We still hang out and go shopping and talk on the phone almost everyday. So for me nothing changed.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
The actual relationships haven't really changed but before the wedding, alot of my friends happened to move out of the state, so that changed how often we saw each other. If anything, the relationships started to change during the engagement.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
ALL of my girlfriends are getting married this year! (I have 7 STD's on our fridge!) Since I got married it's been a revolving door of weddings when one finishes another starts up. Our relationships are the same-- but have shifted to be all about wedding stuff, wedding talk and wedding drama!

Re: Q only a wife could answer
It totally depends--- some of my relationships changed drastically, and some didn't even flinch. Its another stage of your life, the true friends will be the ones that stick through it all.

Sadly, yes. They were my bridesmaids.

Nah, the marriage didn't change anything. It was having a baby that allowed me to see who my real friends are.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
unfortunately yes, with my closest friend. we are in completely different stages of life and things just don't jive like they used to. we really don't talk much anymore but exchange pleasentries on holidays...usually via email or card. they say weddings bring out the best and worst in people. My father died 2 weeks before my wedding. Between his passing and all the wedding plans (she was MOH) I got to see if she would be there for me, but she wasn't. Also, when we bought our home on the south shore she indirectly implied many times that she was sort of 'slumming it' to come down from the north shore. I don't have time for stuff like that! I don't know where whatever if left of our relationship will go, but maybe it will change when our lives are on similar type paths. I will hope that then I can count on her to be there for me when I need those close to me the most.

Re: Q only a wife could answer
Not at all for me. DH and I have all the same friends, grew up in the same town, still see all the same people. In fact, we were one of the last couples to get married. If anything we have more in common with our friends now
