So, we all have chores... and we LOVE them so much



When you were younger did you ever think cleaning would be this much of an annoyance? Or were you always the 'neat' one?

What chores do you not mind doing? What chores do you dread?

Unfortunately....I was always that 'strange' girl who had everything cleaned and neat...

When dh and I first started living together, I would vaccum the rug 4 times (just an area rug) during the day, and twice before I went to bed.

Needless to say, he rolled it up and won't let me use the rug anymore...

When it came to chores, I would take over my sisters because... well... she would leave things dirty

But, now, that I'm preggo, I have to say, I can't clean as much as I used to. I used to wash everything down Daily, including the fridge which DH would get angry to 'Have the door open so much'

The smells of things bother me now.. even though we only use the organic cleaning products... so chores like mopping make me sick :(

I personally love cleaning though. I love having the house clean...and tidy... and non-dusty lol...

Never thought cleaning would be such a pain in the butt, because as a kid i didnt have any chores!! i know i know, i was a spoiled kid, but growing up my mom was home...so she did everything! she would make my bed everday, vaccuum, laundry, fold it and put it away for me! we always had a dishwasher so i never did dishes...she actually still did my laundry until the day i moved out! lol and still does it sometimes when i dont have time! LOL

altho i was a spoiled kid and didnt do any chores growing up, i think that in a way helps me do them now, because my mom always did it, now that im a wife, thats what i do...i like doing all the cleaning etc. altho i hate hate hate, making the bed!!! Chris gets mad that i dont cuz he needs his sheet perfect at night lol dishes annoy me a little too, but thats cuz i think i grew up in a house with a dishwasher so you really get use to that, but we will have one soon at our house soo im soooooooo excited! if only they invented a bed maker machine!!!

besides those 2 things i really dont mind doing all the other stuff...it makes me feel wifey!

I dont think I cleaned much whern I was younger... We had a very small apt where I never had my own room (either shared a bedroom with mom or slept in the living room) so I was never in charge of cleaning anything up....

I love to vaccuum and mop... Theres something about seeing all the dirt you pick up that makes it 'fun' to do... Yeah, guess Im a strange one!

I HATE dusting with a passion... Theres just way too much of it to do and its sooooo damn tedious... I also hate cleaning the bathrooms... Those def dont get done as much... LOL

ETA: As for laundry, now that we have an in home washer and dryer, I really dont mind doing it... except folding can be a bit of a pain just because im super neat doing it and it therefore takes 2 years!

OMG i love seeing all the dirt the vaccuum picks up!! we were dog sitting my parents dog, who sheds like crazy! and i vaaumed after the first day he was there and i took a picture! i couldnt believe how much dog hair from one day!!!!

I ALWAYS show DH the dirt LOL ... We have the pet hair eraser vacuum and it picks up the finest particles ive ever seen... Its like I feel I did something amazing by going over the carpet with it

I'm not a fan of cleaning, I do it because I have to do it or else our house would be really gross and DH definitely would not do it all

My mom is a freak when it comes to cleaning, so I never really had to clean at home. As I got older, she stopped cleaning my room, and I just didn't lol. Now I don't have a choice but to clean because god forbid DH should ever lift a finger, but I hate it. I do it because I have to, and I never let the apartment get to the point of squalor, but I don't go nuts. It's hard because the bathroom is original 1950's, so no amount of cleaning it ACTUALLY gets it clean...I won't walk barefoot on the floor in there no matter how many times I mop, tilex it, etc...because the grout will always be brown I don't mind doing laundry. But cleaning the bathroom makes me want to vomit. I'd much rather cook than clean.

Have you tried straight up bleaching the grout?? Also, if you never tried... Magic Eraser can be your best friend... It picks up EVERYTHING!!!

I don’t remember having too many chores when I was younger other than cleaning my room. Ooh actually I remembered I used to really like dusting.

I HATE doing the dishes or having to touch dirty plates… luckily DH mostly takes care of the kitchen stuff. And I’m weird and don’t mind cleaning the bathroom, mostly bc it makes such a difference from between when it’s clean or dirty!

I second that. Try to make a bleach solution with 2/3 water and pour it on the floor for an hour windows open. It may help!

I never cleaned anything as a kid I was so spoiled...when we moved in and I had to clean that was so new to me. I really do not enjoy it all..if I could I would have a maid. I dont like doing dishes for some strange reason. I dont mind cleaning the bathroom but to mop & sweep the entire house is such a chore. I prefer cooking to cleaning.

OMG I wish some of your cleaning magic would run off on me. . I HATE to clean. . I always just feel like there are so many better things to do. . I like having things neat but I feel genetically incapable of keeping them that way. . I mean I do tidy up a lot but still def have a LOT of improvement on keeping things really neat!

I never tried straight bleach, just the tilex with the bleach in it. I have tried the magic eraser, but it doesn't really work because I think it's the grout itself, not dirt...the dirt is what's holding the tiles on

Never had to worry about cleaning growing up. Now I dread laundry. I don't mind putting it in the washer or the dryer but I hate folding, ironing and putting away. I'd much rather vacuum.

When I lived at home, all I had to do was clean my room which NEVER happened. The day I moved into my first apartment - everything changed.

The first time my mom came to my first apt. she actually asked 'when did you become neat!' The first couple of years I lived alone, I was a compulsive cleaner. Then I started a new job with longer hours and that went POOF so I hired a cleaning lady to come in once every other week. I put her on 'hold' while we were saving for the wedding and house, but just told DH last week that she's coming again starting in May.

About the only thing I am crazy about now is that I can't leave the house without the bed being made (I yell at DH all the time about that if he's the last one up.)

i should also add..i had chores when i wasa kid and always had to clean my room...i told u my mother had that wooden spoon

one time..we had a small bathroom n the basement that just my sisters and i used...we use to skip cleaning it for whatever reason and one time it got bad and when i opened up the toliet seat to pee my mom left a note taped to the seat that said..clean me

I had chores as a kid, I vacuumed the house or helped to wash the floors or do the furniture. I don't mind cleaning too much it just takes a lot of time and between working a lot I feel like it wastes a lot of my weekend. I learned to do a little at a time throughout the week and it saves a day of cleaning on the weekends. That being said I HATE doing laundry with a passion. We live in an apartment and I have to go down to the main floor to do it. It's a nice laundry room but I hate going up and down and folding and everything that involved laundry. DH helps a lot but I still do it often.
