I saw this on LIF and thought it would be a good question of the day...
Do you get along with your siblings? For those who don't get along with their siblings, are you OK with that or does it bother you that you don't get along?

I'm an only child - so I guess I can say I get along really well.
But I do have 4 Sister in law's and I love them to bits!

I posted about my little sister a while ago, we sort of have a very rocky relationship. I can't say that I am OK with it, but on the other hand, I sort of am OK with it. :-/ It's weird. I also have an older brother, who I don't see anymore b/c of a conflict with his wife and my mother and I.
I am not okay with it, I miss my brother to pieces. We never had a great relationship growing up, but as I get older I want him in my life, and his little girl, and his other baby on the way. It ***** that his wife has filled his head with all sorts of bad truths about what happened and now he wont speak to me ever again. It's unfortunate, but I have to move on and not dwell on what I cannot change.

I LOVE my brothers, amazing guys really. And I'm happy that DH feels like there his brothers too, especially since SIL is a piece of work, and they rarely get along, let alone talk to one another.
ETA, DH won't admit it, but I know it hurts him that him and his sister don't get along.

I have a brother who is 4 yrs older than me and we are really close and have a great relationship. I love his wife and were also really tight. DH and my brother are close also.
DH has a little sister, she's 18. I have known her since she was 13 so she's like my little sister and I love her to death!
My cousin is an only child and we have always been close like sisters also, she was my MOH.
I am very lucky.

I grew up as an only child. I do have a half-brother from my dad's previous marriage who would spend some weekends with us, etc. We used to be VERY close despite the age difference (he is 8 years older than me) but after he got married his wife whipped him like a little p*ssy, and now he barely talks to any of us. Control freak b*tch.

ok there is 6 kids in my family. We all get along for the most part....with 6 kids in the household it can get a little crazy/violent/messy/fun.
I have 1 older brother (older by 2 yrs)..I love him we get along he is actually one of DH's best friends But he moved to Brooklyn and I don't get to see him all that much. I need to visit him now that I am thinking of it
Then I have my 2 younger sisters, 1 is 20 and the other will be 19 next month. I LOVE THEM. When I tell you I can tell them anything I can. They are my secret holders and I am theres. We never all 3 got along when we were younger. There was always one of us left out or ganging up on one another. But now we are each others best friends and I miss them so much. One is in FL for school and the other upstate for school
Then I have a 17 year old brother and a 10 year old brother. My 10 yr old brother is the light of my life (besides DH and my doggy haha)/ I love him to pieces he def taught me alot as I matured (I was 13yrs old when he was born) and I am his god mother so we have a close bond. He is funny, cute and always gets a smile on your face.
My 17yr old brother is the pain in the @$$ of the family. BUt I love him and am so proud of his accomplishments in life. I should tell him that more bec sometimes he thinks we all hate him. but he is just a ball buster.
Oh but to add...Family Vacations were always soooo much fun to go on as kids when we were all together.

my Dh has 1 older brother who is 9 yrs older than him. They get along so well now. I love him too and his wife they are great people.
Dh also loves my family. Like I said my older brother- one of my Dh's best friends. And Dh treats my sisters like his own. He never had a sister so he loves them so much. As for the younger ones he loves them as well just closer to the older ones.

I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I am very close with my sister and one of my brothers. My other brother is kind of I guess the black sheep of the family, he is the oldest. He moved to CT a few years ago and we rarely saw him, now we rarely hear from him and haven't seen him in 5+ years. He didn't come to my wedding, he didn't call my father when he was going through his health issues, or my mother for that matter. I found him on facebook recently and we briefly spoke through email but that's it. I have given up on contacting him anymore since he seems so disinterested. It makes me sad because yes he is my brother and I love him but I can't force him to keep in touch with us or to care so it is what it is.

I just don't get how some people can just abandon their family, the people who raised them and their siblings just because of another person. It is sad. I am sorry that has happened. I hope one day your brother realizes it and trys to reconnect.

Re: ***QOTD 2/19***
I practically helped raise my siblings because they are all younger and my mom had triplets when I was 9 so she needed all the help she can get. I take on more of a motherly role than a sisterly one and that does cause a strain on all our relationships at times. I tend to be a 'snitch' when they do something wrong so sometimes they resent me for that but I feel that since I am like a mother figure I have to take responsibility over them because my parents have slacked on the discipline department when it comes to them.
I have a very good relationship with the triplets but as far as my middle sister goes (5 years apart) it has always been rocky and its because we have very stubborn, strong personalities. It has become very strained lately because we found out in November that shes pregnant and shes only 17. I have had a very HARD time with. I was getting better but she has continued to disrespect this family so I am currently not talking to her and have dropped out of helping with the shower. I hate that its like this but like I said I take on the motherly role and feel like I have been a failure because of what she has done.
ooo boy that was long....but ive been venting alot lately about this so this question came at a good time.

Ty, I don't think he will as long as he is married to that woman. She is so controlling, and he is so sweet and nice, that he will do whatever she says. She doesn't deserve him, and I hope one day I can see my nieces again :)
I always wanted to have a big family though. I wanted to have like 10 kids when I was younger lol I love the idea of being close to your siblings like best friends!

I have one sister that is 6.5 years younger than me. Growing up we were close but there was such a difference of age that it was hard for us to really relate to stuff. I mean, I'm a teenager and she's got toys, you know? But as she got older I saw she began to appreciate having an older sister more. We are very close now and I love it.
