QOTD 4/17/03- WHAT DON'T YOU LIKE ABOUT MARRIAGE?

Original post by nrvbrd

Hi.

I will be married in 5 months, however Fh and I have been together for 10 years. I feel like we have been through so much and have grown tremendously throughout our relationship.

In all honesty I feel as though we are ahead of the game. However those already married tell me to be prepared because it is going to really be hard the first year of marriage.

Can you please share your thoughts.

There isn't much because like the other girls said, it doesn't feel different. Sometimes I have to stop and think, hey we ARE married, husband and wife...we lived together for about a year before we got married and nothing has changed really. Everyone told Gary that once he got married, his bowling nights or nights out with the guys would change and I was like why? Just because we have a piece of paper that says we are married? I don't get that, maybe that happens in some relationships but not ours...

Sorry that I rambled...but marriage is great!

LOL - Cooking dinner - I hate cooking - before I was married I was totally satisfied with cereal for dinner - now my DH wants 'real food'!!!

seems everyone does the splitting of the holidays.. that must be rough.. i do NOT split holidays, but then again i dont really care for my inlaws all that much, so I make the desicsion where we go for the holiday and he just kind of goes along with it.. i think he even thinks a full day with his family is to much.. but im VERY fair.. I am going to my familys for easter cause my mom is very religious and she loves this holiday and his mom does nothing but complain about it.. Mothers day, i told him he is more than welcome to go to his moms and i will go to mine...that i am fine with.. and so is he..

Thanksgiving i pick one family and go with it.. last year it was my moms, this year (god help me ) it will prob. be his moms.. unless my mom is alone and then its her house .. Christmas eve its ALWAYS my moms, and christmas day its breakfast with my mom and dinner with his...

God its so easy.. im soo glad he doesnt care one way or another..

sorry for the rant, this just got me thinking!

DH and I both lived at home until we got married. We're married a year and 2 months already
The things I find the hardest about being married is that I'm basically responsible for just about everything. Not that my DH expects it, but I feel pressured that it's my job. For example cleaning the house. If it's a mess, I feel like if someone comes over - it's a bad reflection on me..not him. I need to remind and remember my in-laws bday or if his clothes are wrinkled.... It's old school thinking, but I know people judge me when it's really him or the both of us.

Ladies, thanks for the insight.

I do not think I have much to worry about.

I am just getting nervous with under five months to go.

In our First year.. we moved out of our Apt ... Lived with MY PARENTS for 15 weeks and bought a house... So now that we are at the end of our 2nd year I can honestly say that the things that are bothering are

Splitting the holidays
The Money... why is this an issue!!!
og and the laundry.. why can i never seem to catch up....

Not that I don't like it but that I think was the most difficult was getting used to eachother's routines around the house. I hated that he threw all his clothes-- dirty or clean -- on the floor. He hated that I would push the toothpaste out from the middle of the tube instead of the bottom.

Heck, if these are the only fights we are having in our marriage...then I consider us very fortunate.
