QOTD: Money or memories?

QOTD: Money or memories?

Imagine this:

A fairy comes to you with an offer to give you DOUBLE what your wedding cost in exchange for the experience/memories/momentos. You will still be married but have no memory of the wedding day, no photos or anything. You are never allowed to have a vow renewal or do anything to recreate a wedding for the rest of your life. In exchange you get DOUBLE what you spent. So if you spent 20K, you get 40K in cash right now.

Do you take that offer?

Re: QOTD: Money or memories?

The reason why I ask is b/c before my wedding there was a thread on this side about how the wedding was 'not worth' the money. So I figure if those people got double, some would take it for a downpayment on a house or whatever is more important in the post wedding life

I thought that for a second. To have that much money WOULD be great, but the memories of the best day of our lives can't be bought. While in ways I wish we didn't spend as much as we did, I don't regret it.

I think marrying the man of my dreams and having so far the happiest day of my life is worth any dollar figure.

I'll keep my memories

Even if they offered me quadruple, I wouldn't take it. ( And we spent a lot!!!!!!!!!! )

It was the happiest day of my life!

No way!

But then again, we bought a house, so we don't need the down payment!!!!!!! JUST KIDDING!

Re: QOTD: Money or memories?

Hmmm...after thinking long and hard about this..
I'd say I'd take the money. Our wedding was nice but I know it's not going to be the happiest day of my life. Things went wrong at our wedding and even though we had a blast, it wasn't so much what I had dreamed of.
I believe, for myself, that the best is yet to come! I would rather have double the money back for settling down and planting some roots.

The money.

Honestly, the wedding was fun, but after getting ripped off by the majority of my vendors, and not getting what we paid for, I'd honestly just take the happiness I have now being a married woman and making a home, and a house I could own to be happy in. It makes me very angry to think that I gave people thousands of dollars just so they could go through the motions, and a few of them could screw us to make themselves happier, and so they could make more money.

Also, if I have no memory of it, I have nothing to miss....

I'd take the money.

Memories - just being with all our friends and family and each other at the same time... wouldn't trade that for anything.

Re: QOTD: Money or memories?

See...i knew not everyone would say the same thing

Double the cost is not enough for me to trade the memories b/c even though the cash would be nice, its not going to change my life. Like I couldnt buy a better house with that money or quit my job ... so I'd rather have the memory than the money in the bank. Now if it were 10x, I would have to rethink :D I also dont like the idea that i could NEVER get married or have a vow renewal. You never know what lies ahead so that is really limiting.

Re: QOTD: Money or memories?

I know I am going to be an exception. I would and use that money towards purchasing a home. My wedding was wonderful, but it was one day. If I could improve my life and that of our family in exchange for doing away with one day, you bet I would take the money.

P.S. My wedding was wonderful and went forward without a hitch, so my remark has nothing to do with how much we spent, problems, etc.
