QOTD: What are you / did you most look forward to as a newlywed?

Is there an event or occasion on the horizon you are really looking forward to doing as a married couple? Or something that you've talked to DH about doing 'when we are married' that you are now really excited to do?

calling him husband for the first time, changing my name... knowing that we are actively becoming a family (buying a house, thinking about kids, etc).

Went to our first Rangers game as husband and wife and getting to go home together...Waking up christmas morning..... Going to our first event as husband and wife...

I am really looking forward to making a home with him. We've lived together for 6 years out of the 7 we've been together, but always in apts - with annoying landlords or neighbors, no privacy, small kitchens and bathrooms, no closet space, shared driveways or none at all, and of course, no permanancy. No sense that it was ours, and no want to spend time or money making it OURS.

However, making that home, for us, means moving to New Hampshire - we've talked about this for years and love it there. Love the climate (snow in winter, what a novel idea), love the nice people, love the slower pace .. and especially love the lower price of living (including home prices). We can afford a nice house there without renting for 5-10 more years. I can't wait to decorate, use the shower gifts I got, have a functioning kitchen -- basically, have all the things a house should have to operate well Laundry you don't have to go outside and in the basement to do, a driveway that you can park in wherever you want without worrying you'll block someone in, a yard that you do whatever you want in.

But that means moving away from my family - my sister who I get closer to every day, my niece who is my goddaughter and the cutest thing ever - my mom who I am very close to - and my good friends. I've made a few really close ones in the last 2-3 years after kinda losing touch with old ones, etc -- and it hurts me to leave all those people, it really does.

Just something I have been thinking about ever since we got married ... I am very excited to have that home, that dream come true soon - but not happy about moving at all. But I do want to move ... I just wish I could take all the people I care about with me.

buying a home of our own, and starting a family. we got very lucky, being able to sell his condo in this market, and as soon as we did, we found the perfect house for us. we just got our mortgage commitment, so right now it seems like everything is working out for us. i thank our lucky stars everyday for all of our good fortune so far.

we didnt live together before we were married- so it was that for me- and a little bit of the nesting that Jenn mentioned too- we are setting up our home which is a lot of fun :)

OMG just sleeping in on a weekend without having to run around and meet with vendors was such a welcome treat after such a long engagement lol

And I'm really looking forward to going to our first wedding as a married couple lol wierd I know... because I feel like our wedding just went by so fast we couldn't just sit and enjoy it like guests normally would lol we were so busy taking pics and running aroudn and greeting everyone.... I wanna go to a wedding and just be able to enjoy the party lol

and all the other stuff you ladies said about family and buying a home lol

I just love being able to say 'husband.' I love coming home to him every night, even though 4 nights a week, he then leaves to go to work. This Christmas morning is gonna be weird b/c he is working Christmas Eve, so it's not like we're going to have a typical Christmas morning together this year, but I am still looking forward to it! So many other things I can't even think of!

we already lived together before we were married so the excitement of moving in together was out the window

Having our own home. We've lived in these tiny apartments the past 3 years and I cannot wait to move into our new home and make it ours. We will hopefully close on our new house next month :)
