QOTD: What is one thing that your in-laws do that drive you nuts?
Original post by ddunne23
Thought I'd bring back the question of the day to get Friday started off! To answer my own question, my SIL gives presents to all the neices and nephews if it is just one of their birthdays! For some reason that drives me nuts...I think it totally takes away from the one kids birthday...what makes it special if all the kids get a gift. We have already told her that is not going to fly when we have a family!

Erica - that's too funny b/c I have the opposite problem - DH's family is TOO QUIET! Whenever we visit them or they visit us, it's like PULLING TEETH to have a conversation! I hate it. Thankfully, it was much different this past week when they visited b/c I put them to work around my house, and everyone was so busy that we were all just talking about what to do next! LOL!

My FIL's always forget my birthday!! Always!
My FBIL's b-day is 2 days away from mine, and they will have a party for him and I will be there and they will not even wish me a happy brothday too.

Thank goodness FH and I have our birthdays only 8 days apart, so both our families have to celebrate them both at the same time!
Anyway, I really do like my FILs. I definitely have more complaints about my family than his. They are great, definitely not at all controlling or intrusive. The only one who is a problem is his twin brother. He was fine with me when he was living with a girl, but that was only for 6 months (out of 3 years!). Any other time he's pretty much ignored me. There is definitely a competitiveness at least in his mind I think with FH.
Plus they're both quiet, but FBIL used to make spending time with him really uncomfortable. Now, he lives in California, and when FH goes to visit, I don't even go! Why should I spend a week sitting and staring at the walls in someone's apartment who won't even talk to me?
Besides, it gives them 'guy' time together and the go to baseball games and hang out. But, I wish we had a better relationship.

my MIL smokes pot (if you remember, she got the munchies and ate out of my hotel guest baskets!) and my FIL (they are divorced) - interupts every freakin sentence I have ever tried to say, it is so annoying. Also, I still call him Mr. blah blah, he has never told me to call him anything else. How weird will that be when we have kids??

ckaud...I'm getting used to the loudness of his family...but its so hard if I am trying to watch TV (b/c they are usually speaking Spanish and I have no idea whats being said) and they are so loud that I can't hear the TV...
but I call myself lucky if thats my biggest problem...
jps...my MIL smokes peyote!!! LOL she was adopted by the navajo indians...so she sometimes (very rarely) goes there to their events...she has also done mushrooms in her hogan (you would think she was born native american) to see visions!! lol
