Re: QOTD- March 22

For me, my motivation is always a constant fear of gaining too much weight.

I see peoplein my family who are so unhealthy and who continue to end up in hospitals, heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes, and it scares the living poopies out of me!

Some things that help me get through diets are:

Frozen bananas with peanut butter and chocolate syrup (Chop them up, stick a tooth pick, freeze and yum)

Frozen grapes

Yogurt with honey

Great Question! I actually just started a new diet/lifestyle where I am trying to cut out processed foods. I know that I will not be able to completely cut out processed foods for the rest of my life, but for now, I am going to stick to this for a while. Also - I found this great website called fitday.com that helps you count calories and allows you to put in your current weight, your weight goal and the date you want to acheive it and it tells you how many calories you should be eating per day to acheive that goal. It is pretty cool!

I don't really do anything. I try to actually keep my scale numbers up. I have a tendency to lose a lot of weight if I'm stressed, and since I'm on the border of having a hyperactive thyroid plus just having good genes with relatively thin parents, I'm lucky. But my dad has a few 300 pounders on his side, so I'm vaguely conscious of that. I'm trying to not eat as many canned, boxed, frozen, prepared things...mainly because DH won't eat it if I make it. I've been getting just canned beans and crushed tomatoes and paste for my sauce....obviously boxed pastas, rices, and cous cous...and frozen I pretty much get the natural or organic stuff with no preservatives. I haven't noticed much of a difference, but we don't own a scale and I think I'm going to keep it that way!

For me its about eating every 3 hrs and staying in my calorie range of about 1300-1700 each day. I drink about 8 glasses a day or at least try and for the past 2 weeks I have been active every day. I am doing Jillian Michaels 30 day slim down program as well as going to the gym 3x a week for my cardio. I have also given up soda, I was addicted, and I am on 3 weeks now with no soda at all even diet.

I have lost 3.4 lbs in the last 2 weeks so its working so far.

I am also on sparkpeople.com and its a great support group as well as I am in 2 challenges so that makes me want to work out for my team

After we got engaged I joined WW because I didn't want to be the weight I was for the wedding and decided to finally get healthy and lose it for good. When I lost the weight and became lifetime member, I decided to become an employee of WW as a motivator to keep my weight off, because you have to submit a weight slip monthly and maintain your weight to keep your job. Its hard now that I don't have the wedding as a big motivator, but keeping the only job I have right now-its definitely a big motivator

a great high protein snack or breakfast that keeps you full is cottage cheese with fresh fruit

Is that even legal??? I mean, I get that it's technically part of the job description to be healthy and whatnot, but that just seems a bit fascist to me lol.

My motivation is wanting to look good in a bikini. I gained 14 pounds since I met DH. I weigh very little compared to the majority of the population, but I am also well under height for the majority of the population So when I gain 5 pounds your really can see it. Since I gained triple times that, my thighs and belly have seen better days.

I chalked a lot of it up tot he fact that I am almost thirty and I think my body is changing. Either way, something must be done!

I am eating low-calorie all organic food and trying to do something active at least once a day. I was walking for an hour every day during lunch, but it is getting old. I need to find something else to do as well. I think it will be easier once its warm out at 7AM.

Well right now my lifestyle is a bit different since I am tryingt o gain some muscle. However the principles still stick. I track EVERYTHING. I stay in my macronutritional ranges each day, make sure I get plenty of water and I am consistent with my training schedule. I eat a ton of veggies, lean meats, use flax seed oil if i need to supplement fat. I love the walden farms products (salad dressings, maple syrup etc) and PB2. I try to eat every few hours (which can be tough since my schedule is dictated for me)and I allow myself one 'cheat meal' (which i usually chicken outo n and order a salad with the dressing on the side lol)

The good thing aboutw eight gain is that it is not permanent. I have always struggled with my weight/food issues so trying to be patient and kind to myself is the most important thing. This muscle building thing (as scary as it is because the scale keeps going up!) has been a great thing for me and I am excited to eventually see the results when I start cutting back in a few months!

For me losing weight for my wedding was never a thought in my mind. I lost 30lbs way before I even got engaged. It was a lifestyle change and I truly feel that is the only way you will lose and keep it off.

I am actually smaller now than at my wedding (not by that much) but that is all because its not a diet!!!!

I wish I knew... honestly my will power is shot and you have to have will power.

I think if I work out regularly then I have better will-power but I find the less busy I am the worse I manage my time and less I do things like work out. When I was working full time and in school I managed to work out all the time. Now I never seem to have the time and I have half as much to do.
