I call my inlaws by their first name. I'm uncomfortable calling them Mom and Dad, especially since I have a step-mother who I call by her first name. But when they send me a birthday card, they will sign it 'Mom and Dad' which is okay with me.

I think the whole idea of the tradition is being missed- it's not about replacing your Mom or Dad with your in-laws.. it's about the ceremony of marriage merging the two families into one. I truly believe that- and my husband's Mom is my Mom too because of that.

i do not call her mom, infact i just droped the MRS.
I am trying really hard to call her by her first name. I have been with my husband for 9 years, you think I would be able to do this by now.
