If so, why? Did she ask you to call her that? Do you do it on your own because you feel it in your heart? Do you feel obligated, because she asked you?
If you don't -- What do you call her (be nice ladies)?
OK -- I'll start ...
For me I call my MIL, Mrs. G. I can't find it in my heart to call her anything but that right now. I only have 1 Mom and that is my Mom. My MIL can't hold gold next to my Mom. I had a rough time with my MIL when I prepared for my wedding. She now expects me to call her Mom and I can't do it. I told her I was uncomfortable calling her that and she got upset at me. Maybe in time, but not right now.
What about you?

I call my mother-in-law Mom- I started calling her that after the wedding. and I call my father in law dad. IMO it is a sign of respect. My Mom calls HER mother-in-law Mom... I guess b/c I have a step mom and both of my grandmother's a live I have a lot of female influences- and calling my MIL doesn't take away from my Mom's status in any way.

I call her by her first name. It took me 3 years to do that.

It hasn't been addressed yet, so I do one of those tricks of not calling her anything. I always just look at her when I need to talk to her.

Re: QOTN - Thursday, September 4th
I do the avoidance thing to. I could never call her mom and she has never asked me as well. I would call her by her first name but she has never really given the ok on that either and I know that their family isn't into that so not sure what to do...avoidance works best even though I think it is so stupid. DH also avoids calling my parents anything as well..which drives me nuts and my mom. My mom has asked him to call them by their first names since we first started dating 7 years ago. She told him Mr. and Mrs. makes her uncomfortable and like an old lady...but he refuses to do so even now that we are married...it is just a weird situation...I hope when we eventually have kids the Grandma and Grandpa thing with help it out!

First name basis! But it's been like that for 10 years...she has been married a few times, so I never knew which 'Mrs.' or 'Ms' to call her!!!

I did the avoidance thing too in the beginning because it was weird but now I have been slowly doing it. I don't think I wouldn't call my MIL 'Mom' because no one could replace MY Mom, it has nothing to do with that, it is just a little odd in the beginning. My FIL on the other hand, I want to call him Dad because Gary only has steps bros and sis and they all call him by his first name and I am the first TRUE daughter-in-law. Gary on the other hand has no problem calling my parents Mom and Dad and I give him credit!

Same as stacedz ... Rob calls my parents Mom and Dad ... but it's easier for him, since he is closer to them. I avoid the issue and try to look at them when I talk. I'm trying to work it in ... but I just don't feel that bond.

Re: QOTN - Thursday, September 4th
I call them Mom and Dad. I've been calling them that for years! It just started as an easy way to get their attention (You know when a parent hears Mom or Dad they immediately turn around.) I have no problem calling them that, and my parents think it's great that I feel close enough to them to do that.
David also calls my parents Mom and Dad after years of calling them Mr. & Mrs. He says it was a little strange at first, but now he's comfortable with it. His parents don't mind it either.
Obviously, no one can replace our parents, but it's always nice to know that there is another set of parents out there who think of you as their own as ours do for each of us. (does that make sense??)

Re: QOTN - Thursday, September 4th
I wish we had a relationship where I felt close enough to them that I could call them Mom and Dad. That will NEVER happen so I'll stick with first names.
DH doesn't seem to know what to call my mother and she's awful and loves leaving him in limbo - even when I asked her directly So he usually does the avoidance thing.

Re: QOTN - Thursday, September 4th
i don't call them anything. they are old fashioned. they expected mr and mrs before we got married. they caused a lot of problems for us, i will not feel comfortable calling them mom or dad ever. i just don't call them anything or if i have to, it will be mr and mrs.
I call MIL 'madre' she loves it...so it makes me happy to do it...since she treats me like a daughter...
when I called his grandmother 'abuelita' (grandma in Spanish)she ran over to me and gave me a kiss...
my parents called both my grandmothers 'mom' so it isn't weird for me at all...both my families are super close with one another...so I want the same for our two families...
my mom and dad told DH to call them mom and dad...he calls my mom 'Mom' b/c he knows she likes it...but he avoids names with my dad...I think its weird for him to call anyone dad...since his father died before he was born...
