Just wondering how many NW's are on BC. I mentioned going off the patch to DH, since i think thats why i gained some weight. He was really upset and in a nutshell would rather not have sex than wear a condom. He feels that married people just don't put that 'barrier' between them. I was shocked that he thought that way. I said 'what happens when i want to go off of BC for a few months before we start TTC? You're just not gonna go near me for those months?'. Our conversation got interrupted so thats all we talked about it. I think if its for a certain reason like I mentioned about before TTC, then i would hope that he would be ok with wearing them! I need to talk to him about this again!

Yeah Im on the pill...I actually agree with your DH ,but you have to do whats best for you. My friend uses the nuvaring and loves it,...no weight gain or breast gain etc...which was why she did it bc shes very busty and BC put her over the top

Just switched to Nuvaring a few months ago. So far so good. Nice not to have to remember everyday. I was on the pill (Ortho lo) for about 4 years.

i only started BC after dh and i started dating. I was in a five year relationship and a three year relationship before that and ALWAYS used condoms, every time. I guess thats why i didn't see it as a big deal. I don't plan on going off of it yet, but maybe i'll look into alternatives. Its just that i work out so hard and feel like this could be the reason why i'm not seeing results. But it may not be the reason also!

honestly - majority of guys say they're aweful..so i believe them lol. Not to go into any grotesque detail or sound crude - but think about how they get their pleasure & what a condom actually does...think if we had to line our na-na's with rubber i wouldn't wanna do it! ...and i have to say i am with ur hubby on the subject of putting up that 'barrier' ...it kind of subconciously takes away the intimacy when u think about it in that context..but thats jmo. ANYWAYS, I've been on BC for about 2 1/2 years now...i know how frustrating it can be to find one that works for you & that doesn't give you aweful side effects..i dealt with that for a WHILE.. however - when u find one that works for you it really IS great to have that intimacy with ur husband..as I'm sure u know from being on the patch I started Yaz a couple months back which is a lower dose of hormones from what i was previously on and honestly i have nothing negative to really say...but everyone is different. I think the best thing to do would be to talk to ur gyno and see what he/she says about ur options... they have great insight when you really explain what you want & what u don't want. sometimes i do think about what we're gonna do later on in life when it's no longer reccomended to be on BC, but i guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! so sorry that ur dealing with this - i've totally been there!

Thanks for all of your responses ladies! I actually like being on BC. I love knowing when i'm going to get AF and i like being able to skip it, like for vacations. And of course the intimacy is so much better. I guess DH isn't a jerk after all! If i don't drop any weight by the springtime then i'll start exploring other methods.

lol - no - ur dh is not a jerk...if anything take it as a compliment! he'd rather not have sex at all then ruin his fun with u that he obviously loves so much!

ITA - I wouldn't use one, i hate them so imagine how he feels.
i'm on the patch also and think i gained about 5 lbs from it. but i've switched so many times.... i was on the pill and the nuvaring. the patch is the best so far except the weight gain, the pms and during symptons are the WORST ever.

i can't take anything they make me feel like a hormonal mess all the time. they made me feel like a crazy pregnant lady all the time. and made me depressed. i tried low dose bc (mircette sp?), ortho, depo? My cousin is the same way. We practice FAM which is fertility awareness model (NOT rhythm). There is a great book that teaches it 'Taking charge of your fertility' you can get it on amazon. I suggest all women read this book. It will teach you so much about your body and has tips for not getting preggo and advice for when you want to. I swear by this book. FAM is a combination of absitence during the fertile window (or using condoms during that short time) and charting your temps and checking cervical fluid and other signs to determine ovulation. it works really well if you practice it religiously. then you are free to go aunatural after you know you are no longer fertile the two weeks before AF. DH doesn't mind waiting sometimes or using a condom during fertile times. 'He says if you get to eat ice cream every day you would get sick of it' lol it is a special treat....
