Re: Question about depositing my check into my landlords accoun-bank related**PROBLEM SOLVED THANKS LADIES**
Yes thank you, ChristineAaron08, I was talking about depositing cash not a check. The bank statement will show a payment made out to the order of (name of person) if it is made by CHECK. However, if it is paid by cash then there is no actual proof. A receipt will only indicate the amount shown but no proof that it actually came from you. Even if she withdraws for ex. $500 for account and she takes the money to deposit into his account. You can not prove that in court b/c that $500 withdrawal could had been used for anything. As for the teller that told you the check can't be cashed due to issuer of a different bank, it depends on the bank's policy. Some banks don't permit cashing checks from other banks due to fraud and security reasons. A lot of fake checks have been issued in various banks. To prevent loss and fraud, banks usually require the checks from a different bank to be deposit into the account. It's always best to check with the bank's policy and inquire it with the Customer Service desk. I'm not here to argue and tell you that you're wrong, Espo22, I'm just making some points since I work in a bank and I'm familiar with the Operations procedures. I've mistaken her for living in NYC and him living upstate and it's the other way around. I understand that not all landlords have a management corp. but most landlords have a superintendent or a contact person who deals with bldg related issues. If it is not an apartment bldg, and it is a rental in a house then that's a separate issue. I live in an apartment bldg that is owned by a landlord but he has both a superintendent as well as a management corp that deals with bldg related issues. That way if people can not reach the superintendent, they can turn to the office when they can not reach the landlord directly. I guess, it depends on how the landlord manages his property. I did specify in my post that if they're comfortable with writing a check and they don't have a problem with depositing the check into the landlord's account, then that's fine. As long as it's not signed by the person writing out the check to the landlord, because the signatures do get checked when it goes up to the internal operations dept. The tellers do the transactions but the processing part goes up to the internal operations dept. This is why I'm explaining it to give out info and prevent someone from getting into legal trouble. Once again, go with whatever you feel comfortable with doing. I'm just posting some advice to help people not to argue and tell people they're wrong or otherwise.Welcome New Vendors
