If you cant run due to asthma...then definitely walking. I would walk 30-40 minutes or longer if you can. Do this 3 times a week and maybe some a fitness video or tivo something off of FitTV!
Try and dediciate 1 hour a day to working out and stick with it - I think that is the hardest part - motivating.
YOU CAN DO IT!
yup, what I do is I HAVE to work out the second I get home. Last night I even laid out my workout clothes - so when I get home, I will be out of the house and walking within a few minutes
if i sit down or turn on the tv its all over! LOL
OMG DH says this all the time! He can NOT sit down when he gets home from work. He has to change and run right back out the door or its all over

I don't allow myself to go home first before going to the gym. I make myself at least go into the gym and put my bag down on the locker room bench. Then if I have 3 good reasons to not work out (forgot my socks, iPod battery is dead, headache, etc.), I'm allowed to leave.

Those are all legitimate reasons. I will NOT work out without music

Re: Question about exercise
If I want something different I'll rent videos from the library. It's free! And the dance workout are actually pretty tough. Mine has a lot of the crunch workouts which I like.

Re: Question about exercise
there are lots of things you can do without a gym membership. Before becoming a member at a gym..I used to run alot! most important to lose weight is cardio!!!! SO run, speed walk, bicycle..anything that will get your heart rate up. As for strength training..floor workouts are always the best so no machines!!!! I did a lot of crunches and used the stability ball (definately get yourself one of those) and I also love jack knife situps! they work wonders!! Good luck!!

i'm actually pretty into this! I met DH at the gym yesterday like a half hour after he left (b/c i couldn't get out of bed). I did 35 mins of cardio and then went home and did some arm workouts on fit tv... I like the tae bo ones too. I think cablevision has something similar.

Re: Question about exercise
you cant really spot train to notice weight loss. you def need to incorporate some type of cardio even if it's walking to burn the calories, then do the other exercises the other girls posted. tons of squats....
All you need is a good gym mat, exercise/medicine ball, resistant bands, dumb bells and you're good to go! I used to work out at home but it doesn't really work for me. It's a waste of money to sign up for a gym if you only go 2-3 days a week but it's better than not working out at all. I guess it helps me balance it out, on days that I don't go to the gym, I go running for a half hour and do common exercises at home- push ups, sit-ups, crunches, ab work, etc. and I try to go at least 3 times a week to the gym. Just make sure you add some strength training and cardio-running, swimming, hiking, kick-boxing, etc. to burn and tone down the tummy. I have the same problem areas- all the weight goes down to the stomach, arms, and butt. The abs are the hardest to get rid of it b/c you also have to diet and watch what you eat. That means you have cut down the sugar carvings as well as carbs. So hard! Whole grains, Wheat, brown rice, veggies, all the healthy stuff. If you can stick to it for 3 months, there'll def be results. I started last month and I noticed a bit of a change on the waistline.
