question for those ladies who had a DJ at their wedding...
If it was other would you please explain what it was.
Also - if money was no object would you have chosen the same DJ company/person - yes/no? & if no - why?
And 1 more question - if you were to rate your DJ on a scale of 1-10 what would it be & why?, and if the number is in the low to mid-range - what could he/they have done to make the number higher?
Thanks guys - just doing some research - appreciate the help!

I guess it would be reputation? We saw them perform at a wedding and they were AWESOME.

Hmm I chose other but I guess maybe it was reputation. I visited a bunch of DJs and then I went to dinner with my cousin who was getting married in 2008 and he said to look into his DJ b/c he was awesome and a friend of his FW (now wife). So I called and as soon as I told him who I was he knew my cousin and we chatted a bunch then I met with him and he was AMAZING and got along so well with DH & I. . Even now (24 hrs away from 1 yr) and I still email him to bug him. We act more like friends than vendor/client.

Re: question for those ladies who had a DJ at their wedding...
I wanted someone who was not a typical wedding dj. No cheesiness or him talking between songs. I wanted him to have great mixing abilities and an ability to get everyone dancing.
So I guess I was looking for someone who was not your typical run of the mill guy

I'd say the first 3 options combined.
Reputation, price and whatveer the 3rd one said.
we didn't have any giveaways.

We're big music nerds so we just went based on how he said he would mix songs together (not just have a 60s block followed by a hip-hop block, but go from kanye west to aretha franklin to dee-lite) and he was really knowledgeable in smaller bands that we're in to. Plus he just had a good personality and was really into music too. Very excited about his job, etc.

I booked it based on reviews here, price, how I felt when I met with them, and everything we were getting with them. My DJ was awesome and loved them since booking them and they were awesome on the day of!!!!

I booked them because I was sick of going to showcases where the DJ's were annoying the crap out of me. I do not remember hearing the MC at all, which was why I loved him, except in the beginning the cake cutting, and special dances.
There were no gimmicks, no overdone voices, nothing. I was so pleased.

Honestly - we decided to meet with our DJ because his was the only website that didn't assault us. We wanted a low-key DJ who would stay out of our party. We did not want him singing and dancing with our guests. So when we found a website that wasn't screaming with flashing lights, we set up an appt. Our DJ basically told us he'd do whatever we wanted and play by our rules - no cheesy stuff, nothing we didn't want. We signed almost immediately, and the day of, we were thrilled with everything. I'd give our DJ a 10+++++++++.

I can't edit my post, but also want to add that I chose 'other' in the poll.

I picked mine based on price... I didn't really know their reputation beforehand, but when I interviewed them they seemed really upbeat and fun and our personalities clicked well......they listened to EXACTLY what I wanted/didn't want and I could upload my favorites/do not play lists right on their website online which made it very easy. I was also able to write instructions down for them...such as after my first dance I wanted them to allow me some time to change into my sneakers before they played the Tarentella (sp?) They listened to EVERY instruction right down to the letter. I would definitely pick them again, they did a fantastic job! 10/10

my husbands friend was suppose to dj our wedding as a wedding gift but in the end was able to . So he go the dj that was at his wedding and found a us an MC. I think both were awesome and would hire then again in an instant. If money was no object I an not sure if I would change my mind. I would just have music in different areas of my Reception hall.

We chose ours based on reputation and we have heard them before. We would not choose them again as they played harldy any songs we wrote down beforehand, brought an extra guy which we were then foreced to feed and imo they were good, but nothing great..

Music was very important to DH (who always DJ'd in bars since college). When we talked about what DJ's we would use he asked me to find out who my friend mike used cause he said that was the best wedding music/MC ever. That is who we used... same MC and all (he hate MC's who talk and dance too much and take over too much)!

i chose other because it was a combo of the way they presented everything to us and price. i got their name through my hall (one of their recommended vendors). when we went there, the vibe the guy gave off was great. he really sold his company without selling it if that makes sense. we left his office giddy. they also had a room with all their stuff set up and put on a show for us.
we used LI Sound and i would give them an 11 on a scale of 1-10. i was more than satisfied with our package and with their perfomance. so many people complimented us on them. they were sooooo good!
