like trish..w.e went to Spain as well..we were supposed to go the year before, but figured we would save our money for the wedding...and then we could see all of John's family that couldn't make it to the wedding...
What hotel did you stay in?
Barcelona~the Ritz
Menorca~Sol Menorca on Santo Tomas
Madrid~the Palace Hotel (like Trish...did you love the 'heavenly bed?'
we also went to Toledo, Valdepenas and aravaca...
What did you do?
Barcelona...ate tons of tapas...the best chorizo I have EVER eaten...also took Mikes Bike tour...if any of you have been to Munich, Amsterdam or Paris...you should definitely do this...its so much fun and you get to see the entire sites of the city...they just started in Barcelona last year!
Menorca...lied on the beach and by the pool...ate and ate and ate...there really wasn't much else to do...
Madrid...our main goal was to visit John's grandma...he was upset that he never saw his grandfather before he died...so spending time with her was importatn...and let me tell you for 80 she walked circles around us...taking us site-seeing...
Valdepenas...a very tiny pueblo that John's uncle grew up in...the best part (and the reason we delayed our honeymoon) was to see their version of the running of the bulls...it was so much fun...while it seems so inhumane...the idea is that this type of bull would be extint if they did not have bullfighting...and in the town they eat the bull and have a big feast afterwards...although we did not stay for this...
Exciting places you visited?
I loved being on the Mediteranean...it was so beautiful...but the best place was walking through all of the places that John did while he spent his summers with his grandparetns...and it sounds cheesy, but all of the photographs I got to see...also we spent a lot of time in his parents house that his mom is selling this month...but there are so many stories about the house...I'm glad I could see it.
Do you recommend the location and hotel for a vacation? It was all fabulous!! the hotels were all 5 Star...so how could I not recommend it!!??
