im very curious to what everyone thinks on this..is it better to be a biotch in life or to be nice
i have really tried hard in life to be a generally nice person..u know help out others before myself..always hold the door,,say thank you..donate blood all that stuff
and where has it got me..dh and i were talking last night and he has said before how i am too nice and most of the time people walk all over me and/or take advantage..and yes sometimes i know they do..esp recently with some people i thought were friends.
so my question is..is it better to be a biotch?to be more stern and have a backbone..which i know i dont..or in the end does being nice pay off?

I have been both in my life.
I feel a lot better about myself now that I am a lot nicer. I feel like I am becoming a better person. Treating people the way I would like to be treated is the only way for me to feel like I am doing the right thing.
Having been both- I vote for being nice. If its who you are I don't think you will be able to be content with yourself if you are a b*tch.

I don't think you should stop being who you are....which is a genuinely nice person. BUT....if you are taken advantage of or disrespected, let the bi*ch out!
And your friends shouldn't be taking advantage of you.
ITA. i consider myself a VERY nice person almost to a fault sometimes, but i have learned that you have to stick up for yourself and other people.

I think being an only child my personality is that I don't like to be bothered. Like the example you gave if I had a dress I was going to wear and I had someone ask if they could borrow it....I would be SOOO ANNOYED ---like its MY dress and I wanna wear it so.....NO!!!!
I think I put MY happiness in life BEFORE others(except my close family and obviously DH) b/c if I don't no one else will and I'd be unhappy just for other people.

I think I am a bit of both, I'm a nice person who always does the right thing, donates, volunteers, etc. However, I stand up for myself and will voice my opinion.

I am like you Gina, I am way too nice and people take advantage of me. And even when I'm aware of it, I let it happen over and over again. I have zero backbone. It's something I'm trying to work on but not doing so well!
Let's just hang out and be nice to each other for the rest of time! And ignore the rest of the universe!

sorry going to ask again dont know if anyone saw in the other post..but how do u get over the guilt..like if i stand up for myself and do what i know i should im going to feel guilty and then upset

aww Gina! Your such a sweet and good person!! But your right the guilt will pass! its OK to say NO believe me a while ago I didnt know what that word meant either, lol and I felt guilty if I did happen to say no or stand up for myself or not babysit when my sister asked but not anymore....after a little therapy I learned that guilt will eat you alive. If your not doing anything maliciously (which I know you could never do) then dont look back. Stand up for yourself and you will be ok!! You dont have to do everything people ask of you! And even if you just dont feel like it, its ok to say NO!! I hope you feel better, your to good of a person to let people walk all over you!!

it does pass! i was too nice for a while, but in the last few years I have really been able to stand up for myself, and say what needs to be said, which unfortuneltly usually comes out sounding bitchie. but, you do get over the guilt.

i am too nice, i get hurt easily, and people take advantage of me all the time.... including FAMILY (apart from my mother and father) ...I feel like everyone knows I am overly nice, and always ask me to do things I dont want to do, and I get suckered in to doing it...and where has it got me? NO WHERE
But I guess i just feel reassured that I am nice, so its a personal thing, but I b*tches get far in life..lol

to be a b!tch all the time just for the sake of being a b!tch means carrying around A LOT of negativity ALL THE TIME!!
And that's just SO not me!! I'd rather be happy, light hearted, and nice to people. It makes me feel good to be a nice person. At the end of the day... feeling good and being happy is most important. You have to be happy with yourself and the way you react to things.
With that being said... I think it's also important to stand up for yourself when the times arise. I think it's important to say the things you think and feel. And Sometimes I think it's even important to stand up for others (haha.. I guess being a b!tch in an effort to be nice to another person if you really think about it).
I think all in all... I'm a nice and patient person. But once you cross that line... then it's the COMPLETE opposite from me. And having that balance between the 2 is key. You don't want to be so nice that it's at a fault to you (nice guys finish last) but you don't need to be a raging b!tch all the time either. I think only when it's well deserved it's important to be able to stand your ground. And all other times... be the nice girl you are.
So my offical answer is NICE with a little sprinkle of B!tch!!
You can be more stern and assertive without being a B I T C H

You should be both. Be nice, but once someone starts to step on you and mis-treat you then stand up for yourself and tell that girl where to stick it. Ive been walked on to many times and since Ive met DH he's helped me finally stand up for myself and be a bi*ch when its necessary. if they arent concerned about your feelings, then you shouldnt be concerned about theres.

Honestly u need a good dose of both. A total biotch is just that. But when ur a nice person but stands up for herself as well & maybe doesnt take too much cr ap, i think thats perfect.
Im definitely like this. Im nice Ill help & ill do alot. But if at any point i feel im being taken advantage of or you do something way out of bounds toward me or my family then you better run. Cause im teh biggest BIOTCH you will ever meet. lol
