My best friend and her fiance are coming into NY this week and want to go somewhere outside of the city.

I don't know how far they want to travel but I've heard Montauk is beautiful this time of year...probably really cold though.

Love the out east idea. What about off season vineyards on the north fork? Or even a day in like east hampton...it won't be so hoity toity in the off season and there are so many great shops and restaurants.
Or you could go north into westchester. There are so many great little towns. Not a little town, but White Plains has a lot going on. I'm becoming WC-savvy bc DH grew up there and his entire family still resides throughout the county.
If they're foodies...check out Stone Barns! I think its in Tarrytown. Its an amazing food experience!
