Raw Footage?

Raw Footage?

So I started watching my raw footage yesterday, because I was under the impression it was going to be like everything from the whole entire day that didn't make the edited cut. I have to say I was shocked to see that it was barely anything more than what was in the edited video. One of DH's friends was stalking the camera guy all night and was doing really inappropriate dance moves to him, which obviously didn't make the edited video, so we were looking for it in the raw footage, and I was very surprised to see it wasn't there.

I didn't get to go through the whole thing yet so I don't know if just the footage that was used to make the edited version was first, and there's more after it, of it that's all it is. For girls who got raw footage, did you get like the whole 10 hours worth, or just like 2 hours, most of which being the ceremony?

I really liked my edited video, but I'm a little surprised by the raw footage. It seems like just enough video was taken to be able to edit a video from it, not the entire day. Granted I wasn't expecting video to be taken when everyone was sitting down eating dinner, and I know they left after dessert so didn't get the very final dance segment, but there was a lot from the middle of the night that's just missing. Bah. Is that what raw footage really means though, like just a highlight reel for all intents and purposes? I guess I'm just confused since we know DH's friend was all up in the camera all night yet we don't have the footage of it

We have only our raw footage. It's the entire tape from beginning of the day to the end. Every single thing he filmed was on that raw footage. We actually decided to not go back for the edited version because we really just wanted what we got! I don't know how every videographer works though

Our raw footage is LONG very, very long. It is well over six hours. The videographer captured a lot of the day not every minute but all of the high points and then some.

Then that answers my question. Sigh. DH is back in to 'I told you so' mode, and I'm so over getting brow beat about how much money we spent when we had the opportunity to spend less and would have gotten just about the same things.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but soo far there are only a few things on it that aren't on the edited version, some funny things that my friends were doing with pieces of the cp's. But I was a little disappointed in the fact that some things that went on when we left during the reception to take more pics outside, the videographer came with us and missed what was going on inside and from what I hear there was some funny stuff that happened, we missed it and they missed it on camera.

im surprised! Our raw footage is over 6 hours long. It includes EVERYTHING from beginning to end that both videographers covered. I actually had a blast watching it because I got to see hubby having convo's with his friends and family while he was getting ready at his mom's house. Also me yelling at my girls to get out of my photographers way.

Did you have 1 camera or 2. It is possible most of your edit came from camera 1 and then camera 2 had other stuff, in which case you might still come across more.

My videographer gave me discs that have everything on it. But with two cameras its really everything twice.

We just picked up our raw dvd this past weekend. Still have to watch it. Will get back to you.

Just a note: The reason why we got a raw dvd (and paid extra for it) is because we found out that a family friend was completely cut out of the edited version when the mic was going around the tables. We know his humor. It should have been up to us to say what is included and left out. We were just given an edited copy without seeing any raw footage first to give our say. Wasn't too pleased about that to say the least. So I want to see what else we might have missed.
