REALLY wierd letter in the mail!!! need some comments on what you think is going on!

so we got this letter in the mail yesterday... the envelope was not addressed to anyone - it just had our address on it

so i open it & its a handwritten letter on a yellow lined legal pad peice of paper. it said something to te effect of:

Dear Mr/Mrs

I have tried to contact you many times, but your house phone is disconnected. I have also sent you multiple letters via mail with no response. I will be coming by your residence next week and need to top off the rest of the job that we have been doing. Please contact me ASAP to discuss this.

does anyone else find this REALLY FREAKY?????

1st - its not addressed to anyone
2nd - the ppl who owned the house before us did not live in it, they just bought it as an investment
3rd - if this was a 'real' agency, why is it hand written on a peice of paper and not addressed to a specific person?!?!?!





ETA: our house phone is NOT disconnected & we never got anything else in the mail!!

lol no - they gave their actual #... i just didnt want to post it on here... DH was suppossed to call it today to see wtff it is....

It does seeeem a little fishy, but I might start with...

a reverse search on the phone number - whitepages.com has that feature. It might be a real business?

You could also call 'John' but use your cell and hide/restrict your phone #, don't give your address but describe the letter?

If he sounds odd, just hang up, but I suspect he's a contractor doing some work and has the wrong address? Maybe you should ask a few neighbors if they're using this guy as well...

It sounds like a scam I would just ignore it.

I get letters in the mail that have a handwritten envelope when I open it a hand written post it that says something like 'hey I saw this and thought of you check it out' is attached to a flyer. They think if they hand write stuff we will believe someone we know is sending it to us.

What is the phone number. Type it into google or look it up on anywho.com.

i just called DH & reminded him to callll the # soooooon!!!!

omg! mrsVPT (Heather) got the SAME exact letter when she moved into her house. i was there when she got it--and it was a hand written note--no return addy, nothing.

we called the number and it was to some 'Green' type agency or something, it was a voicemail. they never came by at all.

Is the company from East Northport? Phone number starts with 499?

I got the same letter! It looks like it was hand typed on yellow legal pad. I was all confused and DH is like...it's spam hon. OH!!!!!!!! Just ignore it. They're trying to confuse you so you'll calll.
