Rec. romantic weekend getaways (domestic)...

Hey ladies,
DH and I have two big anniversaries coming up (our 10 Year dating anniversary + 6 Month wedding anniversary). I wanted to plan a weekend away but don't want to spend too much on the weekend away. Any recs? Planning for late January. TIA

cold or warm? i'd loooove to go skiing in vermont. AM New York (free newspaper) had a bunch of not so far ski destinations that go easy on the wallet, but not sure what you're in the mood for

We've driven to Canada - Niagara Falls (6 hour drive) and stayed at the Marriott that overlooks the falls. It's so romantic! And if you get the special, they'll include breakfast, etc. -- not expensive.

You should check out Maine, Rhode Island or maybe upstate by Hunter. There's lots of cute B&B's around that you could find a nice cozy room with a fireplace in. Let me know if you want any suggestions.

Can't believe it's 10 years! Geez, you're getting old like me. I kid, I kid.

Wow ten years. Thats awesome! Congrats.

Hmm my parents went to Maine last summer and really enjoyed it and they said it wasn't pricey at all.

DH and I went to NH for a wedding this past August but the town we stayed in was SOOO expensive. All the rooms were like 200 a night-it was also high season but yea, EXPENSIVE unless you do what we did and stayed out 40 minutes from everything else.

I did Niagara Falls with an ex. I enjoyed that.

For a nice sumemr vacation try th outer banks. It CAN be pricey but search around and book way in advance because they book up FAST. That besides our HM was our favorite vacation. We didnt do anything special; just laid around the beach and ate mostly Sonic food or went to the Food Lion for cold cuts during our 7 days, but we did go out for two nice meals and it was just amazing. We sat on our balcony every night that was right on the each and just watched the waves and sipped cold beer. we're laid back so it was right up our alley.

It is, but I go to there even in the winter to a condo we have, and the town is pretty much closed, there isn't much to do.

OOH, I just thought of another one. Why don't you check out the Finger Lakes wine region? You could visit some wineries and relax the rest of the time.
