We have the oldest washing machine ever. Every time I do a load it shakes like crazy! Like it's unbalanced, but it's not. I want to get a new one ASAP, but need some recommendations. I don't want one that's really expensive, so nothing fancy. Our dryer is fairly new so don't need a set.

my in-laws have a Maytag washer and dryer that they've had for over 15 years, and they still work great. we've been doing our laundry in them for over 3 months now, and we like them a lot. it's a top loader.
ETA: we just bought LG front loaders for our house. the washer is very large, and we were able to get it at a really good price. we haven't used it yet, but everything we've heard from current owners and reviews seem pretty good.

OMG me too!!! my parents have a laundry room but its in the basement - which is unfinished. . .my mom can stand up down there but i have to hunch over so i dont hit my head! and the washer and dryer are in seperate parts of the basement due to space issues. PLUS there is nowhere to hang stuff out flat like sweaters!
So my dream storage room has a washer/dryer/slop sink and then mesh shelves so i can lay my sweaters flat, baskets for lost items, and rod to hang hangers for DH's shirts, and a huge clothesline to hang everything else!
Or Nicole's laundry room - have you ever seen it? it is amazing!

i have a whirlpool steam washer and i really like it!
I also have a cute laundry room, and it defin makes laundry alot easier to do. Its also on the 2nd floor where we sleep so i do not have to bring it up or down stairs

That sounds like a nice laundry room. Our laundry room is a dark small room in our unfinished basement. It's scary down there!

Fisher and Pykel (sp?) make really good washing machines.
Also go to PC Richards and check out the dent and scratch section -- my sister got a front loader for a great deal because it had a small scratch on it. It was on the side so you can see it next to the dryer!
