Regarding TTC, is anyone worried that they will never be ready?
I am 29 and I kinda feel like I should be ready.
But in all honesty, I am not and I don't really feel like I will be in the near future.
Which worries me, because I don't want to be too much older when we start having kids.

I'm more worried about my DH being ready. The other night he sort of alluded to the fact that we should have a mortgage PAID OFF before we have kids!!!!!!!!! WOW!!
I think it probably just hits you at some point and you think yeah, I'm ready now.
But, I know how you feel I'm 28 now and I keep doing the math in my head...so worried that we may have problems conceiving and that would throw the time frame off even more!!!! Although, when you think about it, most women now don't even have children until they're in their 30's. I'm sure it will work out!

I feel the exact same way. I absolutely know that DH and I are not ready. Sometimes I feel weird about that (I mean, shouldn't I feel ready???), but at other times I'm totally fine with it. ALL of our married friends either are pregnant or had a baby within the past year. But the 'right' time is different for everyone, and for some people it never comes.
I'm also 29, and just last week my boss told me that I should start thinking about TTC in the very near future b/c I'm not getting any younger.

Also 29 here. Not even close since we're both still in school. I feel like all this pressure is putting the cart before the horse.
I did not go to school for 7 years AFTER college (with 1 more to go) to have something that should be so joyous make things so difficult. In a couple of years it'll be much easier on us. Not easy, just easier.
For pete's sake, let one of us get a job first!
And the guilt we're starting to feel for thinking this way is getting to us...

I don't feel ready either. It's so much responsibility!!! and a time to be less selfish. I am not ready for that...I am still trying to get used to married life and the responsiblities that come with that...
I hope one day the ready feeling will just hit me...who knows??

I'm less than 12 days shy of 30 and I feel the same way. What makes it worse is that everyone is asking when? when?
Dh last night asked me if I thought the name Paul was ok for our son.

I'm 34 and am not sure we will have a child, we aren't sure we want one. One thing I am sure about is I want to travel again!
Children aren't for everyone, it is a very personal decision.

I just want to add that I think it's soooooooo beyond rude when people have the nerve to actually ask you when you are having kids!! I wouldn't ask even my best friend that!!
My bro & sil have been married almost 5 years and don't want to have kids anytime soon. people actually ask them what they are waiting for--LEAVE THEM ALONE!! it's so rude!!!
ok i'm done venting

we are going to start TTC in june. i don't feel (probably never will) that we are 100% ready. right now, i consider myself way too selfish. i.e. i don't want to be tied down by someone elses schedule. like to do what i want to do when i want to do it. not to mention, i am scared to death of being responsible for someone elses life.
i am going to have to alter my life in a major way, but IMO it will be TOTALLY worth it.

I know I am not ready because I want to get my degree first. I dont' want to be pregnant and trying to navigate through school or have a baby and trying to take classes. After that then we would certainly be ready. My DH totally agrees with me.

That is how we are too....always flip flopping back and forth. I just have to believe that when it is the right time we will feel it. I do not think you are ever totally ready but I do think you have to reach a point where there is more excitement than anxiety that you feel.
We are 31 and 32 and I still think you are better off waiting a few years and dealing with whatever risks that entails than having a baby you are not really excited about or prepared for because 'the clock is ticking'....IMO!

Re: Regarding TTC, is anyone worried that they will never be ready?
Oh my god i just had a talk about this the other night with my DH. I am 28 and he is 29 and I was assuming we would start maybe around the 1 year mark and he goes well i thought we were going to start trying this summer. I was like i don't know if i will even be ready by the one year mark. Although its both of our decisions, i really feel i should have more say about when we start to TTC because its my body and i am the one who has to endure those nine months.
We both are financially stable, have lived togeterh over three years and have done the 'married' thing and could have kids at anytime, i just don't think i am ready for them. Then again i get baby fever ever once in a blue moon...
And the number of people who have asked me when we are going to start...i never asked anyone that before. I find that rude.

I feel like I wrote this! I understand how you feel completely. I know that when you have kids you can not longer be selfish. Your life completely changes and in the beginning you will have no life. I am just not ready yet either.
