Repost from BHB: Desperate for help with airline!!

I was married in February. DH and I got very sick, so I couldn't go on my honeymoon to Jamaica. We postponed it until July (had to pay $100).

Here is the situation: I originally booked my honeymoon under my maiden name b/c the honeymoon was so close to the wedding. However, we have an Italy cruise booked for 7 days after we return from Jamaica. The flight and cruise are both booked in my new married name.

The airline will not change my maiden name from the Jamaica ticket. I have argued, begged, pleaded, and spoken to a supervisor, they will not change it. There are no other available seats for this time to go, and if I cancel my ticket and try to rebook, they say the tickets may not come up as available again (long story with the reason for that).

Does anyone have any suggestions with this??? I don't want lose all the money - we already paid for our hotel in Jamaica!

Sorry so long.

Will they let you board if you have a marriage liscense and an id with your maiden name on it (as well as your passport in your current name)?? I would ask.

Also- did you go to the counter at the airport or call them? Maybe if you go to the actual ticket counter with the information they will let you change it there.

Good luck! What a cr*ppy situation.

hmmm the only thing i can think of is bringing your old passport with your maiden name along with your new passport with your married name when you travel.

since you get the old passport returned when you're done with the name change process, i think it should be fine, no?

this is what i was going to suggest.. carry your old documents.. the ones with u'r old name on it.. when u get to the parts of ur trip that is under your old name, use u'r odl documents.. and when u go through the parts of ur trip that is under your new name show them u'r new documents..
