repost from BHB - help with pictures

I picked up my proofs last night. I hired 2 photographers from the same company - one was a photojournalist and one was a standard photographer.

I hired the PJ for 8 hours. She met us at the salon at 1 - and stayed until 9pm. She was $900.

THe thing is, there are a few things that upset me.

#1. There are NO cocktail hour pictures (is this normal) I thought she would be taking candids of people then - PLUS cocktail hour was from 8-9, so if she didnt take any pics, then she only worked 7 hours!!!

#2. The other 'candids' she took were of us getting our pics taken by the other photographer. I dont understand this - I thought the PJ would be taking candids of us and others - not staged pics.

#3. The table pictures came out HORRIBLE!

#4. They only took one picture each of everyone walking down the isle - so if that person blinked...picture ruined.

#5. I felt there were some really important moments that they didnt really capture. The Motzi, cake cutting, our entrance, etc...

There are plenty of really beautiful pics of my family and my Dh and me, but they were all pretty much 'staged' nothing candid or artistic (which I made very clear to them I want)

Now what??? How do I handle this?
Did you guys get cocktail hour pics?

Re: repost from BHB - help with pictures

First of all I am so sorry to hear how upset you are!

Hmm...I only had one photographer with an assistant, who were both with us for eight hours.

During our cocktail hour, we were taking photographs with our bridal and groom parties; families and ourselves. That took about 40 minutes. The remaining twenty minutes our photographer did take some pictures during the cocktail hour so we have a few nice candid shots, but not a lot.

Our candids were not of other people taking pictures of us. They were people dancing, eating, laughing, etc. We did get pictures of us cutting the cake, first dance, etc.

When you say table pictures, do you mean the table cameras? Or were these pictures taken by your photographer as well?

You really need to talk to them. Did you provide them with a list of photographs that you wanted them to take? Find out if there were any proofs that they did not give you for one reason or another. Make sure you have your contract and any other lists you provided them with and go through it with them line by line.

It only works to their benefit to accomodate you and to make sure that you are happy.

Good luck!

Re: repost from BHB - help with pictures

see we took all our pics before the wedding - so I have NO clue what the photographers were doing during cocktail hour - clearly it wasnt taking pictures!!

The photographer took the table pics - they are so bad!

Maybe I am overreacting? THey said they can fix some pictures - zoom in, color change them - I dont know...

maybe i am just overwhelmed by how many pics I have - and I need to look at them again??

Re: repost from BHB - help with pictures

I did not get CH pics, I got 2 versions of the BP pics which is fine with me

we got some great candids, but there were shots that I really wanted and even sent them copies from this website that I wanted done, and did not get them. I wanted a pic of the rings in either DH or Best Man's hand, up close, I got DH and BM with the rings in BM hand, from afar.

It's give and take...I got some awesome shots and some I lost out on.

Re: repost from BHB - help with pictures

I guess you are right....maybe it will be easier to see when I start sorting out what I want to put in the album..

although that still doesnt explain why I paid for 8 hours and got 7 - that I want an explaination on!!
