repost from NWR computer question

is the a way to turn a word spreadsheet style layout of addresses into address labels?
Isn't there a way to merge it or something? I'm such a computer dummy, I have all the adddresses from my wedding invites in that format-that's the way the computer calligrapher asked for them...now if I could turn that into labels I can use them for holiday cards!!
Please help if you can!

Yep - you can merge them into MS Word easily. I did all my invites and Christmas cards and thanks yous that way last year! I will come back in a couple minutes with some kind of directions for ya!

I am using MS Word 2000 - ifyou aren't it could be slightly different but it should be close to the following)

Open MS Word and click Tools-Mail Merge.

Under Create - Mailing Labels - Active Window

Under Data Source - Click Geta Data - Open Data Source - Then you can change file type to Excel Worksheets - and navigate to the file where you have the addresses stored (I am assuming all is in Excel in separate columns and all good there...) - the Excel Spreadsheet will open - I chose Entire Worksheet (unless you have a named range in the spreadsheet for just the address - than choose that..)

Click Setup Main Document - Then it should lead you to what you need to do to set up the label - pick the label size, set up a sample label (use insert mail field). Click ok and than merge and merge to a new doc and it should work ok.

Alot will depend on how well you setup your spreadsheet and stuff - but hopefully these generic directions help. It is pretty easy - but Good Luck!
