OK, someone posted code JOY a few weeks ago - this allowed you to get a $25 gift certificate for $5 ... they are normally $10 ... but use code SANTA and you can get a 25% gift cert for $2!!! I just got my ILs a 6-month membership (six $25 gift certs) for $12!!!! Normally it's $60.
Hope this helps some of you who still need to buy gifts but want to save money! To use the $25 gift cert, the recipient needs to spend $35-50 (depending on the restaurant they pick to use it at) - but that's still a good deal. I think it looks pretty impressive if you give a few of them! If you buy a $50 gift cert, they wuill need to spend $100, so I think the $25 gift certs are a better option. Unless the person you are giving it to goes out a lot and often spends that much on dinner - when DH and I go out, the bill is usally around $65-$70, so a $50 gift cert from restaurant.com would only make us spend more, you know?

The way it works: You buy a $25 gift cert. You print it out for the recipient. They go online and use the code on the paper to 'log in' - and then they can pick the restaurant they want to go to (any of the ones that are part of the restaurant.com network), print it a gift cert for that specific restaurant, and go! Next to the restaurant's name, it will tell you what the 'requirements' are to use the gift cert (spend $35 to use a $25 gift cert, buy two entrees, etc...)
easy and a good gift!!

You can pick the restaurant for them if they are not good with computers - pick a restauarant they like or that you know is a good place, you can pick it for them, and just give them the gift cert - then all they do is go to that restaurant with the gift cert!

Thanks! I like the open idea - makes it different every month! I do love this site though...we constantly buy gc's from it...such a great deal...
