Question - is it normal to return your proofs to your photographer when he is assembling the album? I picked out my pictures several weeks ago and I got a call from my photographer asking for the proofs back to speed up the process?

Re: Returning Proofs
we had to return the proofs that they were going to use to make the albums. I guess they do this so they can see the exact picture and see the # on the back.

Re: Returning Proofs
I left the proofs chosen for the album or enlargements with my photographer.

Re: Returning Proofs
Our photographer let us keep ours she had the negatives so she wrote the #of the proof that we selected. I guess different people use different methods

Re: Returning Proofs
My photographer (same as Shamma's) only kept a few proofs that she couldn't read the # on. The rest, we got to hold on to.

Re: Returning Proofs
yes, we had to return the proofs that we picked for our album too. We'll get everything back when we pick up the albums.

Re: Returning Proofs
yes. When I asked the photographer they said it helps sometimes to have the proof in front of them so they can see what pic came before & after. I don't know. Now that I'm thinking about it -- that means you're without all your proofs for almost 8 months!

Re: Returning Proofs
I only had to return the ones that I wanted in the album that were black and white! We will get them back though.

Re: Returning Proofs
We didnt have to return proofs. Our proofs had #'s on them. We just had to write down the numbers..because they had the negatives.

Re: Returning Proofs
Thanks for the quick responses - it is nice to know that it is a common practice!!! Though I am going to miss the proofs!

Re: Returning Proofs
We had to leave ours w/the photographer, and when we got them back 7 proofs were MISSING!
So, a word to the wise - write down the EXACT numbers of the proofs that are going in your bridal album and your parents albums, so that you have something to cross-reference when your proofs are returned to you.
Thank goodness I had a proof album b/c I was able to notice right away that some of my proofs were missing. Unfortunately, I am still missing ONE and for the life of me, I cannot figure out which one it is - even w/my list, I cannot figure it out.

Re: Returning Proofs
We just had them write down the numbers of the proofs we wanted. They didn't need our proofs at all.

Re: Returning Proofs
we were told that it is better to have the proofs...because sometimes (rare) the number on the back may have slipped through...adn it could be the wrong picture
