its funny, we discussed this is in my social work field internship class last night. one my classmates is interning at safe horizons which deals with domestic violence victims amongst other things. i was upset at rihanna at first too but she cant help it. its crazy that even though shes a major superstar she has a very low self esteem and is drawn to her abuser. until she fixes herself, shes gonna stick by him.

i heard shes not anymore so who knows.

She's gorgeous, she's talented, she's got everything going for her and the reason she stays with him is b/c she has no self esteem.

I dont know whats going to happen with her and her career. The whole situation is such a shame. I heard a lot of her endorsements dont want to sign her again because she took him back. They dont think she's a good role model (which I agree with)

Most woman go back. And with her being so young, it wouldn't surprise me if all it took was a few tears and begging and pleading and promising on Chris Brown's part to make her crack. I just pray it doesn't happen again.

I understand that women who are abused have low self esteem and its harder for them to leave their abusers. But I thought she would be different bc she is a celebrity, and I would think that she would want to keep her career going. I believe that if she stays with him she will loose a lot of fans. At least due to that I would think she would stay away from him or at least I sure hope so.

On another note Tyra Banks did a show (yes I try to catch it) on abusive relationships. She did three sketches and ask the audience if it was abuse. One sketch was the guy hitting his gf...but the other two was him verbally abusing her and I was very shocked that the 20 something year old women in the audience were saying it was a normal argument. Meanwhile the guy was saying 'your ******* fat' and speaking to the girl in such a terrible way. It so sad to know that some women do not know there is emotional/mental abuse. I assume that women who are physically abused all go through the verbal abuse and that's where they are broken down to the point that they will accept any further abuse including physical.

I feel schools should have a domestic violence class as they have sex ed in Junior High or is it H.S.?

Shes probably in denial. She needs to get angry...then she will drop him! Shes upset right now and she wants closure.

It is really sad. I feel so sorry for any woman/girl (she's only 20) who feels that THAT is love. He did not slap her (not that it would be okay if he did ) he choked the sh!t out of her and close fist punched her repeatedly.

I work with teen girls and it is so hard to see the effects of low self esteem.

Mothers and fathers have to be really careful with what they say and how they treat not only their children but EACHOTHER. Kids repeat learned behaviors. My father never raised his voice LET ALONE his hand to my mother. I think for me personally, and many girls it shapes your expectations in a relationship.
