Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

We are having a ceremony and we are trying to persuade the priest to have communion also. It is a Sunday wedding. Did you have communion at your ceremony?

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

I don't think they let you have Communion w/o the mass since Communion is really the culmination of a mass.

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

Did not want a full mass.

We are not overly religious and wanted the ceremony to be about us rather than church rituals and readings. We were lucky to find a church so flexible that we really didnt have very much of even what is the scaled down ceremony stuff.

I think the only difference between the average ceremony only and average full mass is: Gospel, Homily and Communion which all go hand in hand.

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

we had a full mass w/communion - I didn't care about the mass but Al wanted it. I was afraid it'd be too long, but the entire ceremony was over in 45 minutes. Now I think it would have been too short without the mass

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

We had a full mass on a Sunday. If you are considering communion you might as well have the full mass. I know some people don't like the length of it, but mine was only 45 minutes long. And if the majority of your guests are Catholic they will probably appreciate the mass since it 'counts' for the week. But it is really all about what is importanat to you. For us, a mass was not even a discussion. We knew we would have one.

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

I had a full mass. We both come from religious homes so to not have a full mass would upset the fam. Plus then everyone would feel compelled to go to church the next day (we had a Sat wedding) which I didn't want to have to happen.

We have a Sunday wedding in afternoon many of my family I know would probably already attend their mass in the morning. We will attend the Saturday evening mass my FI and I to receive communion. I have been to a couple of ceremonys and they have been beautiful more is said about the bride and groom and sharing their lives together. My FI is all for the ceremony we both agreed on that.

Re: Roman Catholic Brides...did you have a full mass or ceremony?

Ceremony only- 30 mins. I couldnt be up there for more than that! It's nerve wracking in front of all of those people! But we had time for receiving line so that worked out.
