SAD QUESTION :O(

A family member passed away last week and I have yet to mail out our Thank You's.

What do I do for this TU card?

Re: SAD QUESTION :O(

You can put in it that you were happy to that the family member was there to share such a special day with you, that is if you are sending it to the person's wife/hubby/so. I hope your family finds peace at this time.

I am sorry for your loss.

I too agree with the others about mentioning how great it was that you were able to celebrate together.

Re: SAD QUESTION :O(

Thank you girls, it was my aunt who passed away suddenly and my Uncle is taking it really rough...they were going to be married 50 years and had just retired

Being that it was so recent (MAY), I think no matter WHAT I send, it will upset him because it was the last time my family saw her/them. I don't think there is ever going to be a good 'time' to send it so I guess I might as well send it now and get it over with, I atleast wanted to give him a few weeks to get over the initial shock...

Thank you again

Re: SAD QUESTION :O(

i'm sorry you have to deal with this

i'm in a similar situation with one of our guests .. the death happened just a week after the wedding. i just put myself in her place, and i know i would feel so weird getting this happy smiling thank you card. i'm sure it's the last thing on her mind anyways. so i decided i'm just not going to send one. but then again, this person isn't a close uncle ... so your situation is different. but for me not sending a thank you card was the best choice.

Re: SAD QUESTION :O(

Unfortunately, I had a similar situation. A co-worker's husband passed away just a few weeks after they both attended my wedding. I sent a thank you addressed just to her - and part of my note read as follows:

We’re thankful that you and XXXX were at our wedding – and we hope that you have some happy memories of spending the day with him. We hope that time and the support and love of others will give you strength during this difficult time.

She told me that she very much appreciated the note - so I know that it was the right thing to do in this case.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss - and hope that your Uncle can find some comfort in family & friends.

Re: SAD QUESTION :O(

just an idea...do you have a picture of them? from a friend, proof, or disposable? I know it would be hard for him to see...but it will be such a nice memory....

since we knew my uncle didn't have much time...my mom made it a point to have all of her siblings photographed by our photographer...it sounds morbid...but my mom treasures these pics of her brother now
