Saturday NW QOTD

I should be on a bus right now CT bound for a day of snow tubing and beer tasting (a groupon I had bought) but DH has an eye infection so we couldn't go! I'll probably spend the day cleaning the house instead!

Which brings me to my last question of the day - what are your housewife tricks and tips for keeping the house spotless? What are your favorite products to use? What's your favorite and least favorite chores? Spill all about our least favorite thing to do - cleaning!


For me, I looooooooove steam cleaning our floors with the Shark steam mop. I feel like I'm getting them so clean when I use that thing! I also love washing dishes, I don't mind having a huge pile of dirty dishes to clean and I feel it's somewhat relaxing to wash dishes. I HATE folding and putting away laundry with a passion! Wish I never had to do that again!

So funny! I went tubing and snow boarding last weekend in CT 2...

I clean a little everyday and DH definitely helps. He handles the kitchen and the 2nd bedroom (his clothes are there)

I do pretty much everything else, but when needed he pitches in.
Fav products... um lime away, goo-off, tilex extra strength.

I think i hate laundry, just b/c i have to leave my bldg, go outside and around to the basement... its not real convenient.

Awww that *****! I was totally going to buy that groupon too but my friends are too unorganized to make plans like that in a day.

I HATE washing dishes... it totally grosses me out. Our dishwasher was broken for like a month and it killed me! I actually don't mind cleaning the bathroom... which is probably gross. I just feel like that's one room where you can totally see a difference after you clean it!

And my favorite cleaning product ever is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... it really is magic!! We got dining room chairs from SIL's in laws and since they were smokers the light wood of the chairs was almost gray! I tried every cleaning product on it but nothing worked - until the Magic Eraser! The before and afters were amazing, it was like a commercial.

I love laundry - I guess b/c I can put a load in the wash & then go on LIW or FB for an hour while until it's done...lol

I hate doing dishes. Up until DH & I had our home in 2004 - I NEVER had a dishwasher & ALWAYS washed dishes by hand...ugh! Now that we have a home w/ a dishwasher, I cant stand doing dishes unless they cannot go in the dishwasher! The only dishes I dont mind doing is when I use our good china & wine glasses - I like knowing that I am taking extra special care to keep those preserved as nicely as possible!

And I HATE HATE HATE cleaning the bathroom - esp the toilet... - I have no idea how DH pees in the middle of the night b/c it seems I have stains all over the toilet when I go to clean it every time...YUCK! men!

I love decorating though - for holidays & parties/events! & I love cooking & esp baking! mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Aww that s ucks! I hope his eye infection clears up soon!


I HATE cleaning and I avoid it at all costs.. lol. My house looks far from spotless but I try really hard to devote a few hours a week straightening up/mopping/vacuuming/etc. I have a tendency to be kind of a slob but ever since we bought our apartment I am trying to be a lot neater. I figure if I OWN the place, I shouldn't let it get messy!

I just took a break from cleaning, forgot to charge my scum buster.

I have to say I like doing the dishes, getting the laundry clean and cleaning the tub.

I dont like putting the laundry away, cleanin gmy 70's floors.... probably would like oding it if it felt like they actually looked clean after cleaning them

I somewhat like vacuuming, just hate moving everything to get underneath.

Im doing major cleaning today including my doggie.... he is squeaky clean

Did I mention how much I LOVE to clean my ring with my jewlery cleaner

I love cooking, I really don't mind vacuuming, washing the floor, cleaning and dusting.

I HATE CLEANING THE BATHROOM! Showers are a ***** and toilets gross me out.

I love doing laundry, I am weird that way, but I Hate hate hate hate hate ironing.


Tricks of the trade -

Steamvac is the best invention ever, especially when you have a puppy.

Toilets are less gross with flushable toilet bowl cleaners.

Nothing does a tile floor like hands and knees scrubbing. Spic and Span works best. If you have a tough spot pour some spic and span directly on it.

Magic Erasers get marks off almost anything, but test the surface first.

Shout has these color strips you put in the wash with bright colors. If the clothes bleed they bleed onto the strips and keep the rest of your clothes from turning colors.

Carbona Stain Busters are the best invention for laundry ever made. They are hard to find, Walbaums carries them, but they make them for all different stains and can get out almost any tough stain as long as you know what the stain is.

I hate cleaning. I'd much rather cook. Part of this is I think because my mother hates to cook, but is a fanatic clean freak...I seemed to come out the complete opposite. Unfortunately, I do all of the cleaning now, and I HATE it. I only really clean once every two weeks, so I do push it, and I don't clean on workdays. I seem to be in the pattern of dust bust once a week, clean bathroom once every two weeks. Sometimes I let the dishes go two days, but then I always regret that.

Laundry I actually like doing, even though we have to go over to MIL's to do it. I don't think I'll mind that once I have my own washer/dryer. But I hate ironing, and won't do it, so that's the only cleaning/chore that DH does.

Awww I hope your DH feels better and sorry that you had to miss all that fun.





DH & I clean together once a week..... We use the Shark for the off white carpets, Fantastik with Bleach for the bathroom, and the dishwasher for all things kitchen---if its not dishwasher safe it goes in the trash or I don't buy it.

I don't mind doing the laundry...

DH always helps me!! I am very lucky...

We are trying to keep the house neat at all times so it is't out of control...

Tomorrow I will be cleaning the bathroom... oh joy

Today DH cleaned the kitchen...

I hate CHANGING THE SHEETS ON THE BED!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I can never fold sheets!! Is there a trick to that???

I have no tricks or advice on good cleaning stuff.. I HATE it!

But we do love DOWNY WRINKLE RELEASE...we never iron!!!!!

I love love love to cook (actually we both do) I also love to vaccum & dust. I feel like it makes your home so neat & clean & with the floors im sure everyone knows any bit of dust & you can see it. Joe totally cleans the bathrooms (he has that very heavy hand that gets them spotless!) He also mops all of the floors (for that same reason). We are both clean/neat freaks so the hous eis always in top order.

I HATE laundry. Seriously cant stand doing it. So much so that i have convinced DH to let me take it out & have it done. So once a week he brings it to the launderer & we pick it up the next day all nice clean folded & pressed. We just have to put it away. ITS GREAT & worth it! lol I highly recommend it! lol
