I just got finished doing what is my favorite part of the week...gong through the grocery store circulars and my coupons to plan out my weekly food shopping list and dinner menu for the week! I am not joking in hte least. I'm sure it's little surprise to all of you know knew how, well, 'frugal' I was with my wedding budget that I'd take such great joy in clipping coupons. I absolutely love seeing on the bottom of my receipt each week the amount I saved with my Waldbaum's club card, and I'm taking great pride in the fact that I'm able to buy pretty much only the items which are on sale for that week, and still make delicious, and for hte most part, healthy dinners from them without compromising. OK, so DH flipped when I bought the Celeste Pizza for One's 5/$5 because they're 'crap', but they totally remind me of my childhood and sometimes I feel like a processed sausage ball, so what? And I love Trader Joe's, because if you buy carefully, you can get amazing low prices on their frozen foods (the ones without the preservatives and that are all natural for DH ), which make for great quick weeknight meals.
So my QOTD are what are some of your money-saving tips and tricks? Are you like me, and scour the circulars and clip coupons and plan accordingly, or do you set a weekly budget not to be gone over, or do you alternate one week food one week cleaning supplies /health products/household goods? I coud always use some more tips, so I'm curious to see what everyone else does.

i plan out all meals for the week, then look through my 'big 3' circulars...pathmark, stop and shop and waldbaums. i only buy whats on sale, and i clip coupons from sunday's paper. yesterday, i got sour cream for nothing, and an 8 pack of sparkle paper towels for $2.99!

I have store cards, like the discount ones you sign up for I must have one for every store (i.e. cvs, staples, toys r us) or supermarkets I've ever walked into. Other than that I don't cut coupons. Edited to add that we don't really eat a lot in the house so the only thing I freak out about if we don't have it is cookies and ice cream.

Re: Saturday QOTD
I find that my pathmark card saves me TONS of cash!!! I don't get the circulars in the mail over here so we have not been clipping coupons but if we ever get fully settled in I will make more of an effort. I feel like every spare second I have is devoted to cleaning up the apartment and STILL unpacking! To top it off, I still have this horrible back injury and I feel like it takes me 3 times as long to get anything done so hopefully once it is completely gone I can get more on track with everything!

I use my Stop and Shop and CVS cards a lot... other than that I don't really clip coupons. Ooh but I go to CVS like once a week and always stock up on things we need when they're on sale or when they have Extra Bucks.

Re: Saturday QOTD
Other than the 'club' cards for Stop & Shop, Waldbaums and CVS, I don't really do anything to save $$. Oh yeah and the BBB 20% off coupons - how could I forget those.

I dont save money.....nope not joking. When it comes to food I like certain brands and foods and will spend what it costs to eat those things....if it happens to be on sale then GREAT. The only things I will pick cheaper items is when it comes to cleaning supplies and paper goods.

I'm like that with Reynolds Wrap & Oreos, I can't buy any other brands.

Re: Saturday QOTD
I love the game of trying to keep my grocery bill under a certain amount. I always go through a few circulars but usually end up at pathmark. I definitely stick to certain brands for a lot of things but I do make a point of stocking up when things are on sale. I hate that I don't get the coupons since we don't get the sunday papers, but I do print some online or steal them from my parents house. Pathmark has a consumer section on their website where you can print coupons there.
Side note for those that find this exciting like me, last week at pathmark I walked out with 15 off my next order thanks to some of those smart bucks where if you spend a certain amount they give you coupons. I never pay much attention to them since I would never spend $40 on kraft food or whatever the deal is, but somehow I ended up reaching two or three different amounts and getting all these coupons! It was like hitting the jackpot!

Re: Saturday QOTD
At the supermarket I use that little swipe store card for savings, & shop the sales. Also we have a great farmers market every weekend in DC. We usually buy out fruit/veggies for the week there b/c they are cheaper & so much fresher, and just taste amazing. I love being able to taste things before I buy them especially with fruit. They also have a building that is there all week w/ a meat vendor, cheese vendor. They always have the best products. We also buy a ton of stuff cheaper at Target like papertowels, napkins, etc.. from the Up&Up brand. Sometimes the savings doing that are insane. We also have a BJ's card w/ my parents so we shop there w/o having to pay the membership. We buy things in bulk like razors, papertowels, we save a ton this way. I am sure it will defin help w/ diapers too. I just compare Targets prices to BJ's & buy what is on sale wherever is cheaper.
