My friend just told me about this yarn/needlepoint store that has added a scrapbook section.

They have a weekly crop on Wednesdays 7-11 ($10) and a monthly all day crop one Saturday a month. If you call up they will put you on their mailing list and send you a calendar of events and coupons.

When I was gonna buy them it looked like there were only fronts- do you buy the backs seperately?

this is all new for me- i bought the making memories tool kit and have been practicing sewing on paper, attaching buttons, eyelets, etc.

THe albums at target are the ones that micheals sells, the 12X12 leather ones. they are TRUE 12X12 cause i have never had to cut them. they are NOT strap hinge though.

I am going to join the scrappers group right now!

I would love to get into the eyelts and things but i just dont know how to do it..

i cant wait to go to the convention...

Eyelets aren't so hard really... they look nice.

I did a few pages last weekend, and did some journaling parts with vellum overlays & everything...!

My scrap book is an 'off' size... sorta legal size, but oriented horizontally.

Hey- can you find one on setting snaps???

I just bought the making memories 'tool' set- with the hammer, the hole puncher, tweezers, eyelet setter, needles, paper piercer, etc... It was $30 and WELL worth it- I've used EVERY single tool in the kit!

So far I am up to the 'bridal shower' portion of my scrapbook- it has 6 parts:

engagement
bridal shower
bachelorette
The Wedding Day
The Honeymoon
Happily Ever After- which will be a page for the year that I will do at our one year anniversary.

Each section has its own accent color and there is a chapter page in the front that lays it all out with little 'mini' pictures of me and DH in that stage...

So far it looks cute- but def not as good as the lay outs in the scrapbooking magazines.

I'm still learning and I find that my lay outs get better and better the more I do.

Re: Scrapbook Store in Nassau Cty

Sassyz...I went to Michaels this weekend and was looking at the 'snaps' that you have. They arent the ones I was thinking about. I have seen others where its 2 part that are snapped together through the paper. The snaps that you have get inserted just like an eyelet. The difference between the 2 is and eyelet has a hole in the middle where the snap is solid.

Punch a hole in the paper that you want to put the snap. insert the snap so that the solid part is on the 'good' side of the paper. Hold the snap and turn over the paper and snap so that the 'bad' side of the paper is up and the rough side of the snap is up. Take the eyelet setter, put tip into the stem of the snap, and tap with a hammer a couple of strokes. The setter will flatten down the rough part of the eyelet and hold it on the paper.

Let me know if you have any questions.
