Well my husband and I have spent every weekend since our wedding searching for a home. First we looked at co-ops and ruled them out. Then condos and houses. Well, it seems a house is out of the question. They are TOO much money. What we like cost a lot more than what we can afford. So, now we have decided on a condo for sure. What stinks is that we have seen 3 we really liked, and they were sold so fast we could hardly make an offer. I am so frustrated. I dont even want to look anymore.

Re: Searching for a home stinks!
where are you looking? what areas? What complexes? I went through the same thing buying my townhouse 2 years ago. We put offers in on 6 of them before we got ours....Now we are searching for a house. We havent found anything worth an offer yet

Christy, it is hard but don't give up. It does get frustrating, and things seem to just hit the market and they are gone so fast, but you will find a place. It really takes so much patience, but don't worry it will happen

Re: Searching for a home stinks!
I feel your pain - the last condo DH and I looked at 2 wks ago was great - and they had about 80 other people that agreed!! I couldn't believe the competition, but at least in Nassau, there just aren't enough condos for everyone, so it's insane. I hate it too though

Re: Searching for a home stinks!
Don't worry when it's meant to be... We were looking at houses and anything we considered already had first accepted offers on them. Then I called on an ad and I happened to be the first one to call so the realtor said he wanted me to be the first to see it. Well as soon as we walked in the door we knew it was the house for us. The realtor told us what the seller wanted and we made our offer. Two weeks later we were in contract! It will happen!
If you are still open to co-ops we are selling ours in Great Neck

Def hang in there.. I'm looking at listings EVERY single day.. and finally when you see something in a reasonable price range, and you open it up.. you're like 'HOLY SH ITBOX!'

Thanks ladies. You are so great. I will keep looking, hopefully we will find our place sooner rather than later. I just cant believe how competitive it is out there, and prices are outrageous!

Re: Searching for a home stinks!
well we made an offer on a condo ( I was not ready for a house...and my wallet wasnt either) LOL!
It is a two bedroom 1 and a half bath duplex. I like the fact that there is an upstairs, it feels like a small house to me. The kitchen is all redone. It has an eating area which is a nice size. But clearly not a dining room. It also has a patio so we can BBQ and have people over.
It was way more money than I wanted to spend on a condo. But we really like it. We keep getting stuck in bidding wars so who knows what will happen,
The real estate lady called last night and said we gave a really 'good' number. So we will know for sure on Monday morning. AHHHHHHHHHH!

Good Luck Christy! DH and I have a townhouse and love it. It is a great way for us to start off and we were glad we could buy. Where is the one you bid on? What development?
