Searching for a home stinks!

Original post by christy

Well my husband and I have spent every weekend since our wedding searching for a home. First we looked at co-ops and ruled them out. Then condos and houses. Well, it seems a house is out of the question. They are TOO much money. What we like cost a lot more than what we can afford. So, now we have decided on a condo for sure. What stinks is that we have seen 3 we really liked, and they were sold so fast we could hardly make an offer. I am so frustrated. I dont even want to look anymore.

Re: Searching for a home stinks! UPDATE

We got a call today. Our bid was good. We are in the top three (I think ours was highest). So, now it is down to terms and conditions. We are faxing our info from the bank tomorrow. I could know for sure by tomorrow afternoon if we are getting it or not. It is a condo in babylon village.

Edited to say...thanks for the support ladies! I am very nervous.

Here's the latest...

We are pre-approved, which is good. But we also had to be approved by the real estate's mortgage people. ( I thought this was a bit much). Anyway, we passed that test too.

We are putting less down than the other couple we are up against, but the other couple has property to sell and we dont. So the competition is on. I should know if we were picked by either tonight or tomorrow. It is so scary.

Christy - good luck !!

If the other couple had property to sell, 10 to 1 they need that sale in order to purchase this one, which means the sellers would have to wait for their sale, and if their sale falls through so may this one. So I bet you get it!!!

Good luck!!
I know how you feel - Our lives are totally consumed by house-hunting right now. Any time there is something nice, there's already a million offers on it and it turns into a bidding war (which I try my best not to participate in). I know it is hard to think this way but my attitude now is if it's meant to be, it will happen. I think this weekend I will take a break

Update:

It seems the seller has accepted a private offer. I did not realize he was even taking private offers! I am so disappointed.

Re: Searching for a home stinks!

Christy,
I was once told by a real estate that houses are meant to be - this only happened b/c there is a better house out there for you - I lost out on many homes when we were looking and in the end the house I bought was better than any of the ones we were so upset about.
You'll see...
and keep in mind (every seller is usually looking for someone without anything to sell)
I am now in the process of selling ours and I wish someone would come and bid that had nothing to sell - I would take $10,000 less if it happend -
you are in a great place right now -
I was the same as you last year when we bought - we had nothing to sell - I wish I had known how valuable it was - I didn't realize until I was on this end.
Good Luck
