Setting up house

I have been married for 7 months now, and the apartment is still a mess. How long did it take for everyone to get their houses set up and organized after they get married? I feel so behind!

Re: Setting up house

to be honest, it took about two to three weeks to get it organized, but after 6 months, we still aren't where i'd like to be, but our apartment is small and dh is not the most organize of people, so i think when we get a house, then it will be a different story.

Re: Setting up house

After we got married, we lived in the same small apt for 5 months and there were things everywhere! Now that we've been living in our new house for 7 months...there are still things everywhere!!!!

It takes time to get things all set up...I find that even just doing a little bit at a time is helpful.

Re: Setting up house

We knew we only wanted to be in an apartment for one year before moving into a house so for that entire year there were boxes everywhere!

Re: Setting up house

We moved into our house two years ago and we are finally getting somewhat organized. The garage is the only section left to conquer. Too much junk.

Re: Setting up house

We moved into our house in July and I still have some boxes around...and I was just discussing with my mom the fact that although things may be set up where they are supposed to be - it still feels kind of bare - it takes time!

Re: Setting up house

glad to hear we are not the only ones still trying to get settled. we're only married two months, thank God we had the apartment since July (DH lived here alone though) but @ least I was able to move things over little by little. It was so crazy after the wedding with all the holidays and my dad having surgery & DH working 65 hour weeks---today we were finally able to get organized a little. TARGET had beautiful book cases on sale for $17 and DH put it together tonight--it looks great!! so that made me feel more organized as well! It takes a long time when two people join their lives together AND their junk ahahhha
