Short trip suggestions

i might have asked this before
so I'm trying to surpise DH with a short trip, or more or less jut an overnight stay someplace local. Hamptons, suffolk, nassau, upstate but not more then a 3 hour away, no city Dh is sick of the city, hopefully over V-day weekend, but it doesn't have to be... he really needs just a day or 2 away from life right now, and i can say I do too.

Any suggestions? nothing over the top, maybe something romantic... quite.... anything?? thanks girls!

Re: Short trip suggestions

these are not cheap:
Castle Hill Inn (www.castlehillinn.com)
The Viking (www.hotelviking.com)
Oceancliff (www.newportexperience.com)
The Chanler (www.thechanler.com)

There are also HUNDREDS of B&Bs. You can find a full list on www.gonewport.com. I like the Admiral Fitzroy b/c the owners are SO nice & its right in town. If you pick a B&B, stay on Thames Street, as that is the center of town.

I also have a ton of recommendations for restaurants if you decide to come this way.

gonewport also has a great list of things to do (i rec the mansion tours)

www.newportmansion.org

fm me if you need more info

Oh i loved Newport!!! Been there twice...lots of B&Bs...and hotels..

The place i got married at is cute too...it's an Inn and restaurant & they have rooms in the main house...have a romantic dinner & do wineries the next day...or hit Southampton, East Hampton or any of the towns and walk around...if you call them tell them Kathryn & Blaine sent you (no we don't get a kickback....haha...but i like them to know you were referred)

Newport IS awesome!!!!!!!!!!

I went to college in the area, and used to take lots of weekend trips up there with DH just to get away for a few days.

I would recommend going to the southampton inn - its very clean and affordable - the wineries and shops and restaurants are all open - and its not crazy crowded in the summer. southampton inn offers packages - even for just one overnight.

We have been there and love it - FM me if you want more details!

DH and I go to New Hope, PA to get away from life. It's a quiet little town with tons of B&Bs and usually only takes about 2 hours to get to.

I was going to say the same thing. DH has been there and says it is very pretty. The Amish Country is also nice.

DH & I were engaged in New Hope so it is a special town for me! It's so cute there. We always stay at a B&B called Porches b&b
