Should I mail a TY with a pic to people who did NOT give us gifts?

Original post by RobNette

It feels kind of strange to ignore thier presence at the wedding even if they did not give a gift.
We have two bridal party members who did not give us gifts...one is planning something for us though...
but I figured I should send them all pictures right?

Other guests who did not give gifts, I'm on the fence about. Maybe if they get a card like 'THank you for coming to our wedding!' with no mention fo the gift...they'll realize they did n't give us anything!

It's no big deal honestly...but has anyone else had this minor delema?

I didn't send thank yous to people that didn't give a gift. As a friend so eloquently put it 'What am I thanking them for? Letting me buy them dinner?'

I totally agree!

i agree with this too!

We sent a TY to everyone that came regardless. They still took the time to be with us and that is what it is supposed to be all about. Not the gift. IMO!!

Don't get me wrong, it did still piss me off But, what can you do

I always am on the other side of most people on this matter...but i had at least 9 people show up at my wedding with no gift or card. I did not send any of them a thank you card....i felt the free dinner, dancing, favor and drinks was my thank you for sharing in my day with us.

I actually did get a card with no gift in it and sent that person a thank you card.

It boggles my mind how someone goes to someones wedding and does not give the couple even a card!!! You can get them for 99 cents these days. And with the exception of one, all of them are pretty well off people.

I know my mom taught me not to stoop to other peoples levels...but you get what you give in my book.

What I love, is writting thank yous and trying to sound gracious...

I had a family of three, where two of them showed up (and I know they are well off)...Aunt of the groom and 1st cousin ...with $100. They did travel out of state and they are normally reclusive...and of course anything is a gift and welcomed. But I didn't write 'thank you for your GENEROUS gift' I just wrote 'Thank you for your gift and for traveling to share our day with us..'
I have trouble being disengenuious in writing.

i thought we had more that didnt give gifts, but they are trickling in...so i figure i will know if they meant to give us one by the time we send our TYs, however i think i will send one to everyone anyway. i mean i know the peopel who didnt arent that well off (however they still should have gotten us a card!)

i sent a thank you to everyone who gave a card, gift or no gift. if someone came and didn't give a card, how will i know they were there??? the day was a blur
but i did send ty's no matter. i always write ty notes, so not sending one was not an option...however, don't think a ty is a reminder. 8 months later (give or take a couple of days) and still no gift from the giftless...oh well. that isn't what it's all about. but i'd rather not be so tit for tat about it...i'd rather be more gracious, you know. what does it cost me to send the notes? $1.50 in postage and 7 minutes? i can afford it.
