SIL drops bombshell. She's pregnant. *Update with more accurate facts*
So, DH got a call from his sister yesterday. She's pregnant. I don't know if I should be happy or worried. They live in Florida and their house is a zoo. I've never met her before. She didn't come to the wedding because she couldn't afford to and wouldn't accept anyone's help (we all offered). But, in January she went to NY (DH are in VA so we couldn't see her) because she had to get away from her husband and they were having problems. How did she get to NY? FIL's help. But a few months prior for our wedding, a trip to NY was out of the question?
They have a daughter who turns 9 this week. SIL had her tubes tied years ago. Her husband is a 'dope' (DH's words). He doesn't acknowledge the little things like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Not even a greeting card. He got them kicked off base because he lied about some stuff and last I knew, they were 9 months behind in the mortgage because he failed to pay it.
SIL doesn't work. She homeschools their daughter because she doesn't believe in the Florida education system. FIL has said that he has a better phone conversation with his 4 yr old grandson than his almost 9 yr. old granddaughter because he can barely understand her.
SIL had a yardsale with friends some time ago and the 100 bucks was supposed to be for a new front door. Her husband brought in ANOTHER stray cat so the money had to go towards the spay instead.
I guess every baby is a blessing but.... I just hope this little one gets well taken care of. Still don't know what MIL's reaction was since she and SIL do not have a good relationship at all.
*UPDATE*
DH spoke to his sister yesterday and this is what we now know.
-His sister and her husband do NOT have medical insurance.
-She experienced some sickness but thought she caught a bug.
-She never had her tubes tied. But he DID have a vasectomy. They ran a test and he DOES have a sperm count.
-All home pregnancy tests and blood tests came back negative.
-She suspected she might have been pregnant but the doctor told her she was not and 'yelled at her'.
-She finally got confirmation that she is pregnant once she started showing more in the belly (she is a large girl and actually started to lose weight elsewhere).
-Another giveaway was feeling the baby tumble and kick.
-Oh, yeah, she is 6 MONTHS PREGGO!
-No sonogram can be done because they don't have insurance and all these 'tests' were out of pocket.
*I don't know if she has a regular menstrual cycle or if missed periods were another hint. DH never asked.*
I know they have a show called I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant but damn!
So basically this new niece or nephew will be here in about 3 months.
