Over the last few weeks, the skin around my eyes has gotten gradually more and more sensitive...itchy, dry and flaky and red. I've tried throwing away my makeup and using new ones, different brands, didn't make a difference.
Also tried changing makeup remover...I always used Oil of Olay which I thought wasn't harsh, but then I switched to just olive oil as a natural makeup remover and it didn't make a difference.
Last week I went a few days without anything on my face...no makeup, no moisturizer. It was dry and flaky but got a little less irritated. Then I put on makeup and moisturizer when I went out this weekend, and now everything's bad again.
I have no idea what it could be that's causing it, the rest of my skin is perfect, I'm really concerned. Any advice?

Re: Skin care question - need help!
The same thing happened to me. I've pretty much always had good skin but once I hit 30 my face changed. It was always dry, red in some areas & flakey. I went to the dermatologist & he gave me a perscription for a wash that works pretty good. I still have some redness but it's not itchy & dry. The stuff is RE10 wash by rivers edge I hate going to any kind of Dr but it might save you $ in the long run from trying stuff that doesn't work (like i did)

do you use any products that dry the skin out? if so, make sure you're not using it on that under-eye area bc thats really sensitive skin. only thing i can think of. otherwise, if youre concerned, def see a derm.

I use Aveda hydrating lotion...it works wonders on other parts of my face that used to be flaky, but for some reason doesnt help my under eye area.
I am planning on making an appt with a dermatologist soon though.

Maybe you should try a seperate cream for under your eyes. See if Aveda makes one for that!

i have this problem around my nose and it's terrible! the rest of my skin is great, but not there! i've been using moisture cream with vitamin e from the body shop--there are two versions, i got the nighttime version b/c it's a little thicker. i love it!!
they also have an eye cream which may work well for you! good luck!! here's the link: click me
